GTS Ride Quality with or without Active Ride

Useful feedback - thanks. I haven’t seen many of these in the wild, and the configurator is quite misleading colour wise.

what do people think of Dolomite Silver? That was my original choice, but I get the impression it is a little passé now?

I saw a silver CT4 yesterday and didn’t think it looked particularly special. Unfortunately I think the standard colour palette offered isn’t that inspiring. PTS is the only sure way to get what you want. Unfortunately that doesn’t help you right now!

I suppose I could always get a set of 20-inch wheels with winter tyres.

I have 20” winter tyres on at the moment. They do look a little lost in the arches. Looking forward to getting my 21” wheels back on.

I like Dolomite just as I do Ice Grey, for in bright sunny light they are reflective and alive. I personally however echo the above comment on cloudy and/or rainy days Ice Grey and also to me Dolomite tends to fade away. We love our Gentian but for a change will be going will Purple Sky Metallic for it is ALIVE to us.

But irreverent what any of us think. Get the color of the car that when you see it across a parking lot, as you walk toward it your heart sings.

It’s a big car and white/grey probably don’t flatter so much. Looks like Gentian Blue then…

…maybe I ought to skip the deadline and spend more time colour watching. Unless one can change colours after paying the deposit?

There’s normally a little time after putting the order in, to change the spec. You need to check.

I wasn't sure what you meant so I had to go look on the configurator. Looks like the two mode steering wheel (two dials, one for drive and one for PASM) is only available on Turbos on up and standard on GTs.

The option (the screenshot below) does state no heating. Interestingly the standard option description on the GT does not. @Mr.Smith does yours have a heated steering wheel?

Thanks for the confirmation Mr Smith. Yes you can have a heated steering wheel with racetex. I guess the extra wiring for the two mode switches and paddles don’t allow enough room for the heated wiring.

I don't think so looking at the options but it's not exactly clear from Porsches standard equipment description... I assume it's using the same wire as the second dial.

The configurator shows you can have a racetex steering wheel, just not the two mode switches.

OK, I missed my build slot as I'm still prevaricating over colours and options :-(

I've since managed a test drive in a Gen-2 CT 4S with 21-inch CT wheels. This was quite impressive; the steering was better than on the first-gen 4S I originally drove - but didn't seem quite as sharp as a GTS with identical tyres. That second GTS also didn't feel quite as sharp as the first GTS I tried - I think the only difference was that the first GTS had different tyres.

How much difference would these tyres make to the steering?

• CT 4S: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5
• GTS 1 of 2: Pirelli P-Zero R Elect
• GTS 2 of 2: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5

All cars had same-size wheels (Front: 9.5J x 21 ET60; Rear: 11.5J x 21 ET66).

Were the 2 GTS’s you drove J1.2? Did they both have Active ride? On the configurator if you tick the dynamic package you get performance summer tyres which it appears are the Pirelli R as opposed to either Goodyear F1 or PZero. I guess the R tyre is going to feel more sharp, if this is what you’re referring to?

I have a general bias towards pirelli vs Goodyear products (I’ve burned through a lot of tires on the racetrack). I also prefer summer/winter vs all season/winter. What I can say for sure is that the “digital” anti roll is spectacular at keeping the car FLAT in corners, but I have the 18way seats (more bolstering) and I don’t think I’d like to turn in as aggressively without the bolsters… so you have to think of the way you drive and how you want to sit - so how you’re going to drive and use the car.

my experience with turning off the active bolsters on my E63 is my only experience with grippy car and a more luxury (vs race style) seat and it’s not as much fun when you’re sliding around.
