Upgrade from MY2021 to MY2024

I'm thinking of selling my 2021RWD which has been great and still under CPO warranty and getting a 2024RWD. Any thoughts or advice?

Why?

Hardly any difference between a 2021 and a 2024, likely no difference, definitely none you'd notice. You'd literarlly be burning money for nothing - I can message you my bank account if you have too much to handle.

If you want to switch, switch to a 2025/2026; which is on the updated j1.2 "platform", with newer battery chemistry/size, higher charging curve, newer software version, and maybe less electrical issues.

I'm thinking it would be good to sell it while it's still a CPO. It's almost 5 years old. It's silver with Mission E wheels and performance plus battery. It's my second car which I just drive locally and charge at home so I don't really need the larger battery and I would rather have smaller wheels. I thought a 2024 CPO would be an upgrade for the way I use the car. Also, I think the 2024 already has the upgraded battery chemistry. Am I wrong?

You’re wrong; Q3 and Q4 2024 have the possible manufacturing defects fixed, but it’s still same old chemistry.

New chemistry was introduced in MY25 and keeps being used in MY26

2024 CPO would be an upgrade in 0 ways, as there are 0 improvements in it over a 2021

I switched from a MY20 to MY24 for 3 reasons

1. I like the J1.1 look better than J1.2 and the car is great for me range wise
2. I wanted something that I had CPO on as long as possible
3. I love the PTS color …

When I did it though J1.2 wasn’t discounted and was brand new. Maybe now I would reconsider if the build was right on a J1.2…. But I still like the 1.1 look better.

All this talk of collapsing Taycan into Panamera makes me even happier I bought the MY24 I did.

I had searches running for about a year before I found one that was near perfect and heavily discounted.

We don't agree about all things with @chun but here he is absolutely right.
There is exactly 0 benefits in going to a 2024, and you'll be flushing your money down the toilet. It's literally the same exact car.

Buying a 3rd party extended warranty for your 2021 is still MUCH cheaper than buying a 2024.
So if you like the car as-is, then just get some extended warranty for it for peace of mind.

Q3 and Q4 2024 are all MY25, the production of MY24 was halted beginning of Q2 2024 - the recall has absolutely all J1.1 cars listed no matter the build date ...
Unless of course the battery was exchanged already on the car and then has the newer build date, I don't know when they stopped the production of J1.1 batteries.

2021 and 2024 are the same car (J1.1) but there are some incremental improvements and it is newer overall. I do agree that extending a warranty to 100k miles or 8 years that would cost in a $7k ballpark is a better move then moving to a newer but same car for much more. 2025+ (J1.2) is a much improved car overall but in a RWD form it has less performance if that makes any sense. At the end of the day, if still moving to a 2024 or 2025, let's see the specific example with build details and prices to analyze.

2025+ (J1.2) is a much improved car overall but in a RWD form it has less performance if that makes any sense.

It does not, the 0-100km/h is the same and the lower speed performance is better.
It has significantly higher torque output. The J1.1 PB+ in launch control has the theoretical max power at 120 km/h, and then after the shift the power output drops again.

The facelift has a better area "under the curve". And then if the performance is not enough with our upgrade it's mental.

2025 Base performance reference was made by me due to -30 kW in PB+ with LC, but otherwise, it is better in other areas per this press kit info, which shows that 0 to 100 km/h is actually faster.

It's the same thing pretty much and is irrelevant.
There's like no differences besides being able to get vario roof.

Yes it is, that's why I am saying the theoretical kW is irrelevant because on the pre-facelift it's in a very narrow range, and the facelift actually has a much better area under the curve, and is faster.

I went from a 21 to a 23, then a 25.

The 21-23 jump was a very incremental upgrade, and then only because I went from base to GTS.

I'd really try for a 25 if you can, the J1.2 is a lot better.
