I picked up a TTS on July 10th and once I get home I uploaded the documents asked for in the My Porsche App. I purchased the car from Kingstowne Motorcars in Manassas, VA. They sell pre owned luxury vehicles. So they are not an official Porsche dealer.

I was going to take the TTS on a business trip, but I'm not sure how convenient that will be without having the Porsche App fully working.

Anyone have any experience with how long it takes to get "validated" when buying a used Taycan from a private seller?

Should be on day of pickup from OPC but non franchised I'm not sure.

You don't need the app really and can work around public charging requirements until sorted.

Home charging depending on setup can be programmed via PCM directly.

I hardwired a Tesla Universal Wall Charger to a 60A breaker in a 100A sub-panel I installed in my garage a few years ago when I got a Lyriq. It would charge the Lyriq at 11.5kW.

When I plug in the Taycan, its charging at 10.5kW, so slightly less than the Lyriq, but still plenty fast to get to 80% overnight.

The Lyriq came with a complimentary 2 year free charging at EVGO charging stations. That has always worked flawlessly when I'm traveling. So I never bothered installing any other apps in my phone.

So if I was to go in a trip in the Taycan, what should I install in my phone to get by until my account is verified?

I'm not US based so can't advise really.

Research the likely charging locations and operators and download their app.

If you got a Taycan Card with your car then that should work at various locations. Card cones with first owner and might not be transferable.

Pay As You Go.

Also not US based, but I recently picked mine up, and also had trouble getting everything activated through the app, after uploading all the documents.

I eventually spoke to my nearest Porsche Centre, and they activated everything for me instantly.

My advice, call your nearest Porsche Centre.

No Porsche charge cards in the US. Everything is pretty much driven through apps you need to download. If you're taking the car on a trip, use something like www.abetterrouteplanner.com to decide ahead of time where you want to charge. Then make sure you look up the requirements for each of the stations you're going to visit.

It's easy enough to just use the Tesla chargers everywhere but you'll need an NACS to CCS1 DC adapter (you might have one from your Lyriq already... this is Porsche's version, but there are lots of options). You use the Tesla app to start and stop your charges. Lots of info youtube and other places.

For your car registration, I'd probably call Porsche customer service if I were you.

Here’s what I recommend you do:
1. Setup you Porsche ID before calling, be prepared to email them your paperwork and them them it’s urgent if you need to leave today.
2. If it can wait until tomorrow you can try going to your local Porsche dealership and see if they can help you.
3 If they’re smart they’ll do it because new Porsche customer and you likely need some recalls and updates done (already can tell that if you’re charging at 10.5 kW then you don’t have all the updates because you haven’t been nerfed yet).
4. Unless your vehicle has over 50k miles, you should still be under the 4 year warranty, so this all should be at no-cost.
5. Because you have a 2024 MY, you should have free charging at EA stations until 2027, but you gotta have the dealership activate that along with MyPorsche account.
6. You can check to see if perhaps it’s still active by going to an EA charging station and connecting. If it’s not free and you don’t want to pay their rates, you can simply disconnect.
7. It is possible for the My Porsche app or PCM to filter out charging stations that you pay outside of the Porsche plug-and-charge type. Some Tesla, ChargePoint and EA can do that. Those are the only ones I’ve tried, there could be others.

Yep, I already have a NACS to CCS1 adapter from my Lyriq. I'll be sure to remember grab it before the new owner pics up the car.

Trip is not for a couple of weeks and not that far (Charlottesville to High Point NC). Should be able to make it on a single charge (Its about 185 miles).

1. I setup my Porsche ID already via the app on the phone. Thursday I also emailed [email protected] with my full name, Porsche ID email, VIN, purchase date, selling dealership, driver's license, bill of sales and temp registration.

2. Trip is not for a couple of weeks so I should be good.

3. Interesting, so they are now limiting level 2 charging to less than 10.5Kw? Car supposedly have had all campaigns completed, at least as of Feb 2026.

4. Car only has 16.7k miles on it, so that's good news.

5. That's great news, didn't realize that.

6. I'll see if I can find a EA charging station nearby and try it.

It is a bit annoying having to manually enter guest mode every time I start the car.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that its a lemon/buyback car. I wonder if that's why there's a delay?

No issues, that’s just for title purposes I would think.

This is the way.

My car wouldn't activate either, even after uploading my whole lease package and tax return and shopping history. After a week, I called and it was done right away.

Call.

The update the nerfs it down to 8.9 was released in March. Big thread about it here in the forums.

Hmm, my sticker shows 11kW:

Porsche Taycan Picked up 2024 Turbo S on July 10th (9 days ago) - Still waiting to get verified in My Porsche App 11kw_charger

My build date was 08/23.

I read through the 15 page "nerf" thread but I'm not 100% sure nerfing also happens on 2024 models that have window stickers clearly showing 11kW?

Since it is an OTA update, I might not get it until my Porsche ID is validated. I do plan to call customer support tomorrow to see if they can get me validated.

Yes, you have been nerfed.
I have the same sticker and the new 40A limit, that has no way to get to 11kW.
