I would like the simple option to keep the HVAC running when leaving the car like in the Tesla. This was a great feature and one I used all the time when it was very hot or very cold outside and I wasn't concerned about range.

Agreed, that is a really nice feature. It's also very convenient when you're charging since the HVAC power usage is negated. Charge, grab some snacks/food, come back to a comfortable car.

Yo should try to give feedback to Porsche, they can do better, the old ways to do car business is over, innovation is not only about the EV motors and batterie, infotainment and other things are equal importan, in fact millennials are focus on that. Yes you right Tesla’s are ugly with the exception of model S which is already a 8 years old design.
This just goes to show that Porsche and Tesla serve two different markets, those that want a drivers car and those that want a flashy Uber. It comes down to taste.

I thought this was possible? Not an owner yet but remember reading on this forum you can have it stay on for an hour. Presumably you could also use the app to start precooling once you exit the vehicle to achieve the same thing?

As a prospective taycan owner I wish Porsche would’ve paid less attention to Tesla when designing the taycan. The touchscreen for everything approach wax clearly influenced by Tesla and that’s just never going to be ideal. I’d rather they added a few more hard buttons for stuff like homelink, climate controls, etc. As far as the “features” that the taycan lacks compared to Tesla I’d much rather have real blind spot monitoring, surround view cameras, carplay, etc - all of which Tesla still lacks despite plenty of customers asking for those items. Tesla is smart about implementing features that sound cool, have catchy names and “go viral” - I give them credit for that.

It's official - this thread has jumped the shark. Quoting "news reports" from China about some dude stuck in a Tesla for 10 minutes????? I think that is a new low for this forum.

The thread started with a little promise - even though there was a request for "dog mode" and "sentry mode," but now it has devolved into posting ludicrous crap out of China. Let's wrap this one up, nothing to see here!!!

I do fully agree with you. This thread has gone completely off the rail. One of the latest post from somebody that does not even have a car and probably not ever had a Tesl before, commenting is the pits.
I think this thread should be closed ASAP.

You can precool/preheat via PCM, connect app, timers... I use it multiple times daily.

This just goes to show that Porsche and Tesla serve two different markets, those that want a drivers car and those that want a flashy Uber. It comes down to taste.
Why can’t we have the best of both worlds? What’s wrong with wanting a car that is as crazy awesome and great to drive as a Taycan, but with superior interface and quality tech to match?

I dont know how the Lucid Air will be in comparison to a Taycan or Tesla in the drive experience, it’s a sedan after all and not a sports car, but based on their demo of the OS they have in their car (again, just based on what they have shown, car doesnt exists real world yet, I know) it seems they have both beaten Tesla and Porsche in that regard. Ideally, I’d love to have what they are promising in their interface, equipped into my Taycan! So we can at least ask Porsche to beat those other competitors with the interface, the same way they trounce them with the vehicle itself.

I used this technique the other day.
Used 2% of my battery.
Battery was at 75% SoC to start OAT 35.5C. Quite hot and sunny. Vehicle air set to cool to 17C.
Car was cool and battery 73% SoC after one hour.

I don't think so:

1. That requires a constant drain of the main battery. That's a total no no.

2. There are good and easy to install dash cams on the market, no need to over-complicate the tech in the car, which is based on CAN bus.

I much rather see the software we have now, to work properly, and store settings so that they survive a restart of the car.

Also, locking the car by just walking away is a safety problem, no car should ever work that way.
All the inconveniences that you mentioned are enable and disable in other cars. In fact my Taycan has convenience access and can be deactivated if the owners wishes.

Sorry, no proper car manufacturer does that due to safety reasons. Even auto locking while driving is off by default - safety first.
Not accurate , cars that locked itself walking away that I owned Jaguars, Mercedes, BMW, Tesla and my Taycan 2021, of course you have to activate the future in setting. One more things, they never locked if the key is inside the car or the trunk.

Tesla was never designed with a safety dashcam, the functions was added for people asking in forums, in fact the quality is not good, is a greenish color due the cameras were installed for autopilot. You can chose to activate then or not as you wish, the car use the GPS for the locations you want to be deactivated.

The app takes too long to quick. On the Tesla it was one or two quick taps on the screen before exiting the car to keep the Hvac running. Small detail but it was very useful.
