There is evidence that the trade in values of used EV's have surged with the rise in gas prices. My Porsche dealer claims that they will give a better price on an older Taycan as they have buyers and a ton of new models on the lot they need to move. How credible is this and what could be expected?

I've been following prices in UK and don't see any evidence of this. Porsche EVs are premium / expensive and generally operate in their own 'bubble'. Taycan forecourt prices for 2nd hand don't appear to be rising but until you show interest / make a deal the truth will never be known.

Other brands are discounting heavily still.

2nd hand lease market is on the rise for company car buyers.

Interest in EVs in general will clearly rise for the foreseeable but of that how much will convert to sales (new or 2nd hand) is unknown. Fuel prices aren't that high to make / take a leap of faith and if anything are poised to fall back.

In your own case test the waters and see if you get a 'great deal'.

maybe older Taycans are getting "better pricing" relative to recent pricing bc they are the cheapest Taycans on the market and will be easier to sell at the price point. A 2020 base is now at the price of a new Tesla Model 3.

Ultimately, Taycan is a premium EV product, so I doubt people who are actually hurting from fuel costs is buying one solely bc of the reason.

i don't think people that are pinching pennies due to gas prices are shopping for Taycans personally.

I think that the discount you get on a certified 2025 Taycan with fewer than 7,500 miles is a bargain.

Credibility from a car dealership? 😂

They’ve done step 1 which is “bait.” Guess what step 2 is?

Yes, the dealer wants to sell you a new car. Tell them to give you actual numbers and you’ll find out really quickly if they’re legit or full of it.

The issue the dealer will have is that as the cost to operate the Taycan is so low and the driving experience is so good, there is no incentive other than vanity to trade for a very expensive new car. So any deal will have to be good.

I'm aligned with @69Mach390 : please get a formal offer from them, it would be interesting for this forum to see the actual numbers & conditions.
I'm also considering to swap my J1.1 Turbo for something newer, either a J1.2, or a Cayenne Coupé S if I can swallow the future drop, or if they make a real Leasing offer (as in "not a credit disguised in leasing")

To complete the circle. This is for Canada, but the relative relationships should hold for other places. The comment that a used Taycan goes for the price of a new model 3 Tesla is pretty accurate. That is about what I was quoted. The spread is wide as there are different models available. I got quoted in the range of the cost of a Model 3 AWD Long Range but not quite a Model 3 Performance. Not quite good enough to be attractive. I will just have to continue to enjoy my Taycan until the cost to repair becomes excessive. Should be at least 2 more years when it goes out of warranty and then hopefully more.

Porsche currently sending me "exclusive opportunities" to change mine... Apparently demand is strong for used Taycans.

I doubt strong enough to make the cost to change even remotely attractive. Just like when Volvo do the same with the OH's car....no numbers given etc. Just flannel.

Sorry, but a previous career of mine dealt in advertising for local car dealers.

They send out mailers automatically to tens of thousands of people at a time and they all say the same thing;

That your (fill in the blank used car) is in high demand and they’ll give you top dollar for it. Hurry in to your local (fill in the blank) car dealer today!

They just buy lists of car registrations so they know what you have.

Same for the mailers for extended warranties etc.
