4S to Turbo - is it worth it?

I am going to make the same jump from 4S to Turbo at some point. Part of it is just to move from MY 2020 to something a bit later with plug-and-charge and a few of the little software gremlins smoothed out. Also, after driving the Turbo S at the PEC in LA, I was looking for a little more power...

Decision Logic For Swapping From Winter to Summer Tires?

If it snows and you are running summer tires, there is a high probability of going off the road regardless of the vehicle. I have had too many close calls in various cars over the years with summer tires that I just don't risk it if there is a chance of snow. Even a dusting of snow can sometimes...

Considering selling my 2021 Taycan 4S (Black)

I just sold my 2020 4S to a dealer and got in the range RAHRCR mentioned above. My car didn't have a ton of options aside from the performance battery. Not sure how that impacts things.

    Sold but I'll Be Back

I never thought I would say this, but I sold my 2020 Taycan 4S yesterday after almost two years with the car. I loved the car, but some unique circumstances caused me to sell. The short version is that we are in the process of moving and won’t have room to park all our cars. I had no intention...

Selling my Taycan RWD - best way to do it?

Sold my 2020 4S today to a dealer and got just under MSRP. After accounting for federal and state tax incentives, I am ahead almost $9k. I would try a few more dealers as a first step.

Irrational trouble ahead for BEVs after Felicity Ace ship fire?

Near me there has been some publicity around a condo complex that doesn't allow EVs to be parked in the indoor parking. Hopefully this is not the start of more bans like this. https://www.summitdaily.com/news/crime/keystones-decatur-homeowners-association-bans-electric-vehicles-in-garage/

How often do you change driving modes?

I change modes a lot. It is one of my favorite things in the car. I set it to normal on rough roads, when I am in traffic or when clearance is limited. I use sport / sport+ for curvy roads and when I need to do more passing. It really changes the personality of the car.

Taycan in cold climates - your experience?

Some sensors do complain if they get dirty from snow or sand/salt, but I have never had an issue just because it was cold. I have never had an issue with the door handles per-se. Twice the whole car was covered in ice and all the doors were iced shut, but that would impact any car. The nice...

Taycan in cold climates - your experience?

I think your summary is right. The car is excellent in snow - I drive it in sketchy conditions all the time including about 5 minutes ago. The traction control does allow the back end to come out a little more than some cars (e.g., Lexus), but it is well controlled, you just need to be aware of...

The new "My Porsche" app is trash! Oh my.

The new app definitely has buried some key functions. For me I mostly use it to 1) pre-heat the car and 2) charge on the road. Charging in both the new app and the old app is harder than some of the 3rd party apps. At EvGo and ChargePoint I just pull up to the charger, tap my phone on the...

Rear Axle Steering for daily driver?

I didn't get 4 wheel steering and regret it. I didn't get it because I didn't love the feel of Power Steering Plus which came bundled with the 4 wheel steering. The car is definitely big and it can be a bit of a handful in say a tight garage.

Confused by low DC charge at public charger

If your battery was at 20F, that really isn't very warm. I had a case the other day where my battery was about 10F, and I could only charge at about 4kw at first. The battery soon warmed up to 50F and I could pull the 50kw that the charger offered. Battery temp is key.

    Red light charging

This happens to me when the charger comes a little out of the electrical socket in the wall. You want the plug in the socket 100% of the way.

Taycan 4S vs Arctic Blast 2022: Stuttgart Strikes Back!

I get as much as 250 miles of range in the winter, but if it is really cold and I have the heating system blasting, it can drop to 200.

Sony announces electric cars.... What does that look like?

That sure does look a lot like a Taycan at first blush.

Taycan 4S vs Arctic Blast 2022: Stuttgart Strikes Back!

I have left it outside and not plugged in at temps close to that and didn't have an issue. No clue what the battery temp was.

Taycan 4S vs Arctic Blast 2022: Stuttgart Strikes Back!

That is very similar to what I have seen under very cold conditions. I also love the ability to pre-heat the car before I jump in, but I totally agree that you have to watch the battery carefully at those temps. If you blast the heating, you can run down the battery pretty quickly.

Winter 2021 road trip to Scotland

Have fun. Sounds like a cool trip. Love the photo of charging on the ferry. I have the same tire / wheel setup as you have and have driven through the worst winter conditions imaginable on many occasions (e.g., clear ice so thick you could skate on it to 8" of unplowed snow). Short of going...

    RAS without PSP in US

I had exactly the same perspective as you. I wanted RAS but not PSP. I am old enough to have driven the 911 when the steering was so heavy that you literally got a bicep workout every time you drove it. I drove a Taycan with PSP, and it just didn't feel the way I wanted - totally personal...

    Winter vs all-season tires?

I too live in Colorado. I am a skier so when they are telling people to stay off the roads, I am often heading up to the mountains. Most of my miles in the Taycan have been in the mountains. I run all seasons during the summer and snows during the winter. I have only driven the all seasons...
