The problem is exaggerated by the inability of the service departments to diagnose some problems so multiple visits are required and the lack of parts which require the car to stay at the dealer for weeks.
I participated in the sh*t show myself today at the Belmont, CA station.
Station #2 is constantly out of service in last 5 months and my repeated calls to EA they haven't fix it yet and they have no ETA.
No problem, there are two other working stations. Station 1 is on the "wrong place" and the...
This is the new PMCC that was just released and it is different than the one that came with the 2020 and 2021 models. It is not just a software update, hardware is different too.
It has been discussed in other threads that PMCC in the US market uses an undersized #10 AWG wire that shouldn't be used for more than 30A and Porsche has not yet upgraded it.
To prevent overheating you should reduce max current in the PMCC settings. As others said, lower the max current...
I guess I win the "I told you" prize :)
Btw, I my 4s goes ~300 miles at 100% with the Michelin stock summer tires, interesting to see if I get extra mileage if I switch with all-seasons next year.
Less chance of anything (cables, charger, the NEMA socket) to overheat. Especially if you have one of the cheap $10 NEMA outlets, lowering the amps below 30A can help prevent its meltdown.
Other reasons might have to do with the overall electrical load of your house (dryers, ovens, etc) in case...
Since this thread is for Polestar 2, out of curiosity I browsed a Polestar forum yesterday. It seems they started OTA updates around February and it didn't go well so they postponed it for a few months. Some owners still cannot successfully install the updates and have to go to the dealer. But...
Everyones situation is different. I had a 2017 X3 and a 2015 M235i and they were both perfect with no issues during lease interval. Excellent cars.
On the other hand, my Macan had oil leaks from 3 different places, that were never properly addressed plus three other electrical issues. My...
Polestar 2 cannot charge on Signet chargers either and needs a software update.
Here is the TSB https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10197409-9999.pdf
The issue date was Dec 2020 but their planned software fix was due Q3 2021... They detected the issue early but the fix release is slow...
Battery has to degrade at least 20% in first 3 years to be covered under warranty. See screenshot from US warranty handbook.
Also excess demand and ovestrainng the battery in motorsport events (track days) is a reason for the warranty claim to be denied. I am not sure if Porsche has logs of...
It is not necessarily drain. It can also be either battery degradation, or the software not being able to see all the available electrical power left in the battery. The fact that his consumption numbers are totally wrong, is fishy, I am not sure if these are somehow used internally by the car...
I don't think even a completely dead 12v battery can drain so much.
An average 12v car batter can provide about 600 Wh (watts per hour), so lets assume the 12v is totally dead, and the main batter provides all that power instead. That would be 2.4KW in 4hours (assuming you drive 200 miles in 4...
I regret paying for it. For me, it is as useless as the Charger Dock that is sitting on its box.
I agree that $460 is not much compared to the total cost, but a different way to think about it is if you should spend that money on a different option. I would certainly prefer to have the window...
I doubt Porsche will replace the battery of a car that gets more range than the EPA estimate.
@daveo4EV other things to consider are changes to your car like new tires that might be stickier than the previous ones.
One way or another (call EA, go to Chargepoint or EVGO) you will be able to charge and complete your trip (hopefully). The point here is the major inconvenience and the unnecessary bad customer experience.
I guess if Plug&Charge really worked for all models and if EA proactively detected and...
The car is not necessarily drivable with a broken A/C because it is also used for battery cooling. Overheated battery results in turtle mode.
It might also not be chargeable as reported in other threads because the battery cannot be cooled during charging.
Most likely not related to chip or electronic shortages since parts without electronics like windshields take several weeks to get to the US as well.
Porsche NA does not have enough parts in stock. I also agree with a previous comment that failure rate seems rather high for certain things like...
