@Throb I totally get your frustration and share it. ACC is great on the open road but around town, the car is simply too much of a chicken. To get around town, one must show willing to dent the fender ;)
ACC is also the death of sound German motorway culture. It so made me laugh when I read...
To be fair, that new UI makes sense to me too. The Assist screen effectively gives you various options to configure the ACC. That is what PID effectively is - an extension of the ACC.
(Chuckled when I saw you had Speed Limits off.)
While that stands to reason, there is precious little evidence to that effect. All evidence points to the contrary, eg the fact that the navigation freezes in LTE dark spots, the fact that the car pulls down map updates en route, etc. The German post contents that a loss of signal is...
While this explanation jibes with my personal impressions, it is a truly weird explanation from a software architecture POV. All modern software is structured in layers. The application layer - here the map functions - SHOULD NOT get involved with the network layer. The network layer, on the...
The exact same thing happened to me too on the outbound leg. I attributed it also to the many map updates. It seemed to me that the car was pulling updates for regions that I had not recently driven thru. Kind-of reasonable, except that I thought "I had planned this trip in the app and sent...
Entirely possible, I would say, since the TSB attached by @Bognar67 makes no mention whatever of other dependencies. Do you still have that repair order? 8 dependencies is a lot and it would be weird Porsche omitting to mention that in Europe.
Here we have some evidence that one can update...
We can learn from the PDF @Bognar67 attached earlier that "central computer" without a doubt refers to the PCM. And anyone who ever experienced a faulty memory stick on their PC knows that that hardware fault is virtually indistinguishable from a software fault. None of the posts of @Bognar67...
Is it really? Yes, this is an active thread but the people participating isn't that large and the people with problems as bad as yours are fewer still. As I reported from my recent 4 legs thru Benelux, crashed all the time on leg #1, fine the other 3 legs.
What bothers me is the unwillingness...
This makes me pause about making an urgent appointment with my service center. I don't suffer from these particular failures and there is no indication on these boards that 3885 really improves the Charge Planner. @Bognar67 experience feels like a "do something" response from HQ.
Didn't that email motivate the update you mentioned in post #661? That is, that email predates your update, yes? And your dealer can now reply to Germany "Update to 3885 made no flipping difference."
Did I understand this correctly?
PS: Going by that email, I guess I should make an...
That merely states how to update the PCM. I am asking how Porsche explain the difference between your awful experience and the less bad experience of the next guy (me, say)? There are 1000s of Taycan owners out there, some are on this forum and fewer still are having a truly awful time with...
Perhaps. But there is one contrarian on this thread (who got a new "central computer").
I am still on 3882 and don't have it as bad as you report. How does headquarter account for that? Anyway, it is really upon them to come up with a plan. Keep us posted.
Well, then do like @Matt-Taycan and take your car to Sheffield for a new PCM. Seriously, your OPC cannot update some software on the car that leaves you worse off (or no better) than before. Surely, they want to take some ownership of the problem? You took the car straight back?
EDIT: If...
Perhaps drop Porsche a line. My feeling is that these things are only incorporated into the navigation once someone reports them, when the provider somehow failed to do so. I did the same recently with a new charger in Belgium. (Unless, of course, the good people of Bath wish to reserve it...
