Yes, it will be an excess on the insurance. Over here you tend to get a much lower excess for glass replacement (vs accident damage or whatever) if you use the insurers authorised repairer.

Agreed about insurance impact of this sort of modification in a crash, fault or otherwise. If this sort of mod blows up the motors or the transmission, then warranty should absolutely be denied. I think a lot of people are more concerned about warranty being invalidated for an unconnected...

Surely you just let your tyres wear a bit more quickly and don't bother. Much more cost efficient. Chances are, you'll drop 2.2k, drive out of the dealership and hit a speed bump/pothole 2 days later and the tracking will be out again.
