VW Group (Porsche, Audi, Scout) Commits to NACS

OK. So Porsche dragging their feet waiting to join NACS means existing Taycan owners get to enjoy the benefits of charging at EA for another year. Keep the EA number on speed dial.

VW Group (Porsche, Audi, Scout) Commits to NACS

I did not realize that. My understanding was that Tesla benefits from the arrangement because Tesla is free to use any improvements made to its technology by another party electing to use Tesla patents.

VW Group (Porsche, Audi, Scout) Commits to NACS

The fact that Tesla has already opened their chargers with magic dock to CCS vehicles using the Tesla app would seem to indicate they would extend that convenience next year with an approved adapter that we all carry in our car. For Porsche to say 2025 for adapter access in their press release...

VW Group (Porsche, Audi, Scout) Commits to NACS

Unfortunately you are likely correct and it means we have more than 12 months of Electrify America hell. What puzzles me is EA seems to be getting worse. Just today EA near me with 4 stalls, 2 down and 2 derated. Owners on the phone with EA trying to get the car to connect. Several cars...

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

    Using the TeslaTap

Same here. I use my wife’s Tesla level 2 home EVSE with an 80amp Teslatap and it works fine.

    Swapping a 2021 Turbo for a 2024 GTS?

I have a 21 4s and have the same conclusion as you nicely summarized.

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

Maybe the new PCNA President from BMW M will be successful in convincing Stubborn Stuttgart that we need NACS since BMW has joined. I really would like the new Macan EV for the wife but without NACS the Mercedes EQE AMG is a better choice for us.

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

Unfortunately that likely means no adapters until Spring 2025. Not sure why VAG are dragging their feet on this obvious/necessary announcement.

Anyone going back to a Tesla?

Touché. Yes, we occasionally fly but my grandkids want to see my ”cool car”. Perhaps Porsche/VAG/EA should offer customers frequent flyer miles when you buy a Taycan rather than free supercharging or fixing EA.

Change rims in the Connect App

Thanks. That would be a nice to have feature so the picture on my phone home screen matches my car since I changed to the black mission E wheels from the original silver turbo aero wheels.

    Tesla Price Drop

Couldn’t agree more. I give Tesla credit where it’s due. My wife’s Model Y Performance is an awesome car that exceeds previous cars like the X3M, AMG GLC that we’ve owned. Tesla is a tech company that has become a very good car company. Build quality is on par with the Germans. Tech is superior...

I was in for service this week at my dealer where the manager said that he was told by Porsche that “Porsche will be joining NACS”.

Anyone going back to a Tesla?

That’s what we do with our Tesla MYP. Unless you need the extra seating space or like the falcon wing doors, I’d recommend the Model Y Performance. In sport mode steering you get Taycan like performance and handling for the cost of the options on my Taycan.

Anyone going back to a Tesla?

Both. Due to scarce CCS chargers the distance travelled to find them is roundabout and thus is much longer. Some are slow level 2 like the ChargePoint at the Hyundai dealer in Charleston WV that I’d need to spend 52 minutes at. Also it’s 10.5 hours. Try it on abetterrouteplanner.com

Anyone going back to a Tesla?

? Good one. Actually they both are 0 to 60 in 3.5 sec. Difference is lack of CCS chargers. You can see for yourself using the ABRP (A Better Route Planner) app.
