If the car is in the shop, I could understand it. Perhaps they need to reset the BMS etc to see the charge levels of the different cells???
But to do that out in their visitor car park with other customer cars parked and charging on AC or DC seems peculiar?
Any how it all went fine and the car...
I agree with you. It would be much better if the app stated showed A time stamp with the last update from the vehicle directly on the screen. Then you would know, and if there has been no new update for a few days, you would be suspicious.
The times when I have doubted the update frequency I...
I collected my car from the dealer on Thursday, after recalls for brake hoses, reprogramming of PSM for brakes, battery tests ARB6, 7 etc. All done but not in the timeframe the thought, it took 2 extra days?
I must say the brakes feel much better now, firmer and more consistent. I know the...
It seems to me that the app states that it has been updated from the Porsche servers. But the Porsche servers are probably only have the information from when the car last updated the servers? Not the state the car is at, exactly that time! If you click on the green check mark, you can see the...
We have a very similar Malus tax here in France. This is an ambition from the government in a drive for cleaner environment. So there are small incentives to buy electric cars but quite punitive to buy muscle cars.
The limit that is allowed at the moment before Malus kicks in is 113 g/km CO2...
Absolutely call Porsche Assistance or equivalent in U S.
’In winter time it is a danger to drive the car without heat to clear the windscreen.
secondly the workshop has to give priority to cars coming in via Porsche Assistance!
I do not know if this is the case for you or relevant, but I had that happen at one stage when the voltage level dropped below norm. There was a cold spell and I guess a lot of extra load on the network. It was my electrician that highlighted the possibility.
You might have experienced the same...
There is an even simpler way if you sit in the car. The lower screen in centre console has a button with Preheat or similar on. Just press that.
Even better, as I understand you have done, is to set a time when the car should be ready in the car.
I can understand that it is a pain with shifts like that in temperature, especially in the UK with normal wet and damp weather. It can really freeze up then.
But I can not understand at all why you would have to sit in the car and wait for LTE?
Just press the preheat button in the PCM and go...
I believe the J1.ll battery does not need to heat up as much as in the previous generation. Some of the videos showing charging at DC Ionity a much lower optimal starting temperature. The battery chemistry seems to be designed to perform at lower temperature.?
Did you look at the signal strength in the cars system? I take it that what said above refers to your cellphone?
But yeah the next issue is whether the Porsche servers are on line?
Yes that is a real challenge when the app does not work as it should. How is your coverage with the cellular network?
Porsche servers for some reason or other (mostly accountant driven?) is not very reliable. I have never had any problems with either BMW or Tesla to communicate with the car...
Could you not have raised the cabin temperature a bit higher remotely. That is what I do in Norway when the temperature went to below -20C. I started With 22 C cabin and increased it a bit later to 25 C. Car heated very well and defrosted. I did not have ny problems with the doors or windows...
I would ask them to demonstrate your sun roof! At least they have reduced the fee they try to charge for that now.
I think the service quote is very high. If the car needs taken apart for checking some drains, I would say it is a very bad design!
Two quite different propositions really. The M5 is appealing for me , due to being an M5. I just sold my 2016 F10 M5 and already miss it. One of the best cars, most comfortable and practical and totally reliable since 2016.
The new M5 will be even more complex than a Taycan and is untested...
In the early 2020 Taycans PnC would not work at all with the std 11 kW charger. They had missed out something about a certificate in the unit band could not retrofit it!
The price is ridiculous YES!
But I find it quite useful to charge up relatively quickly with 3 phase. And I only have 11 kW in the Taycan. A loan BMW charged at 22 kW no problems, so the unit works well, at least for me.
And DC would not be an alternative at all since you have no way of...
I normally prefer Ionity because of the speed etc, but have a few places where I frequently use Tesla.
Main reason is that they have chargers at a very nice restaurant that we stop at during visits to our marina. Just beside a lake with great views And atmosphere. No Ionity for about 125 km...
