London to Edinburgh? Take the train - First Class. Enjoy the scenery and relax. Or Fly and it's only an hour. It's a long drive spent on Motorways and going through some busy areas. Personally I would fly and then rent a car if you wanted to explore around EDI (not needed for in town anyway).
Wife and I both work and treated ourselves to your garage more or less - Taycan Turbo plus Range Rover L460 P440e. Have had 911, X6, X5, etc before but this really feels like THE two car garage. Would love a Cayman GT4 or a GT3RS + a pick-up truck to make the ultimate 4 car garage but paying off...
As above, Porsche Nav with a Google sense-check. 300 miles should be one stop - preferably 180-200 miles in so that you get to your destination with 100+ miles in the tank. Just make sure you have Plan A and Plan B with some buffer, but not worth stressing over.
Motorway driving - off.
City Driving - safety and general coolness - on.
Back road/weekend driving - Sport Mode and on.
I would 100% spec again but would like it louder for those times and do want it on!
Land Rover - ordered 12+ months pre-delivery and they honored 4.9% (October delivery - so early in the interest rate hike season but not before).
Porsche - ordered 9 months pre-delivery before rates shot up and went from 5.9% I think to 6.9% with no warning or explanation. I scrambled around...
There is a general issue with Porsche/all servicing (it seems!) at the moment - huge backlogs, lack of parts etc. My only thought is to give Porsche Reading a call - they always seem to be better stocked and more knowledgeable that the rest as the UK "head office". Not to say they are perfect...
Seems a little crazy that you have to take wheels off and remove trim to get at the heater. Remember when cars had a bonnet and you could open it and fix simple things in no time at all? I get that the design progress has been huge but they could not make these things more difficult maintain!
HUD in my view is pointless as the digital display bleeds straight onto the dash visually and speed is top/middle. I have HUD on other vehicles and love it but never on Porsche. Also partly because you sit low and the HUD risks obscuring the vision.
LCA? meh.
I would give the sills and...
Taycan is a "best all rounder" vehicle. It looks epic but it is not quite as sexy as a DBS. It has a wonderful comfortable interior but not as luxurious as a Bentley. It handles well, but not fully nailed down (given the weight). It is so fast (full stop - much faster than Aston). So it ticks so...
In the UK you just call Porsche assist and they recover the car for you and it jumps the queue. Not sure if this is an option in the US but waiting for a standard appointment does not seem appropriate when it should arguably not be driven due to risk of steaming up.
These kind of problems are so frustrating - not something I have experienced. Could you go for a drive with the engineer? I had done this before with other issues.
UK based people - try Porsche Reading - the rumour is they placed a batch order and cleared their back-log. I was told 2-3 weeks and ended up being 5 days (w/c 9 January I think it was). I have also heard that Mayfair/West London has a huge back log. Really is a scandal!
