I didn't realise the car did it automatically, but I have done the manual change over each time I have been through France this year without a problem. I rang Porsche today and they have no immediate answer, so it is added to the list of things to look at when the brake hoses are changed, rear...
I don’t think it is route dependent, as it is a setting outside of anything nav related, and I’ve used other nav routes in the UK since. I can tap through the menus to untick the box, and the option becomes greyed out as soon as you move off, so all as expected. It just goes back to inverted...
I’m posting this in the UK forum, as I guess we would be the only ones who use the inverted dipped beam when travelling to mainland Europe. I’ve just come back from a trip to France, Spain and Portugal and set the inverted dipped beam as I crossed over. I set it back to standard when I got...
So for me, I would have a hard time, even with man-maths, of justifying a Taycan is I was doing less than 2k miles a year, but I am sure there are plenty that will have the car for that sort of use.
To your questions that I have experience of. Servicing costs seem to be hugely variable between...
So to pay back a little of what I have got out of others writing up some of their road trips, I thought I would share a few thoughts on my journey now that I am back. First off was just what an epic grand tourer this car can be. I was just travelling by myself, but had a fair load to carry with...
Just to add my experience as a UK based driver, currently in Portugal having driven all the way. First off, I was Pointed to this thread after I posted about the trip in that forum, and it has been super-helpful in getting me ready.
I have not had to do a great deal of charging in Portugal...
set a bump charge for the hour to get 7Kw (or whatever your charger can deliver). We have our other car on Intelligent, so I set a geo-profile for the cheap hours when I plug in the Taycan at home.
Last time we had one of the 'free electricity' hours, I ran the dishwasher, tumble dryer...
So if the objective is to save money, not just what is nice to have. My choice of things to cut (bearing in mind I drive in the UK, so take everything I say loosely :) ):
- Oak Green looks amazing, but other colours are good too, and half the price. You only really look at the colour when you...
Thanks. Bilbao and Santander are just outside my route planning, but have found a pretty decent looking hotel not too far away in Briones that has overnight charging
Thanks again. Using ABRP, it appears that Zunder is a pretty good network of 300KW chargers around the region, and for my journey, it is picking a combination of those and Ionity.
I live near Bristol, so heading all the way across the UK, to then come all the way back has limited appeal, and I have done that a few times. In terms of driving in France, it seems to add about 270 miles to the journey.
I was going to get the morning ferry from Portsmouth, then getting to...
Hi. I will be heading to just south of Lisbon for a few days work in September and am toying with the idea of making it a road trip, rather than a 3 hour flight. I am too late for a cabin and am not a fan of the idea of 30 hours on a ferry in to Santander, so am looking at a ferry across to...
Was that IECharge by chance? I tried to use one of their sites near Rouen last week. This one had 3 charging posts with one at 160KW and one at 320KW, but I got no more than 100KW, even with ideal conditions. Site was really poor too. Tiny side road, with no space to turn and very short...
So just back from near Perigueux, having had no choice than to travel on both the really busy Saturdays. Roads themselves were surprisingly free moving, but what became a real pain on a couple of occasions was charging at some of the service stations on the autoroute. Seems obvious now, but...
I got the same price from Porsche Reading. My local (Bristol) wanted £1200, as did the others in the same group. Great service from Reading, and a quiet work area (plus lunch laid on).
- I have similar thoughts, so have been looking at chargers that might be 1-2Km off the autoroute, if I need them. I think that it is a good plan to have an idea of a fallback charger stop in case.
- I have read on a few sites that you need to have the high vis “easily accessible”, so not in...
Thread resurrection, but as it is summer and I'm planning my own route down towards the south west of France.....
IECharge networks seems pretty good from a planning perspective. 320KW chargers and 25c per kWh. Better than Ionity for us?
There are differences whether you have saloon or turismo. I was going to use one company, but they said they had only made for the saloon. I guess if depends on how tightly fitted to the boot you are wanting
