Have to wonder what's going on w/ German sport/sporty vehicle designers. The latest BMW 3s look like they took a leaf from the Edsel front-end IMO. As far as this picture of the new Taycan ... I'd like to see it in person but I'm thinking it's not heading in the right direction.
I hear a transitional / chunking sound when slowing down to about that speed but attributed it to the Taycan shifting into its low gear. There's no dashboard feedback on this transition, unfortunately, assuming that's what this sound is.
Just "for what it's worth": My RWD w/ 13K miles was flagged by dealer as needing new tires and alignment. Had our local top independent shop look at it. New tires: yes. Alignment?: Not needed; tire wear was normal. He said Porsche flags some normal wear as needing alignment.
OK, I don't think this experiment rises to discovery of electricity but it so happens that you can, in fact, charge a portable power station through the Taycan's cigarette lighter 12V outlet. I was able to charge at both 5A and 10A settings using the Goal Zero/Yeti 1000W power station lighter...
I had a fob wallet a couple of feet from the Taycan that is supposed to be protective and, in fact, did seem to keep the car from being aware that the key was nearby. However, my battery just went south after only a few weeks. So I've now moved the key much further away and inside a metal drawer...
I asked about Porsche tech support about this. They replied but declined to comment one way or the other. I think I'm going to give it a go. Should work.
I don't think it would be hard to strike a great deal on a Taycan in the UK. I thought the latest big price increase was ill-timed considering that Tesla is dropping prices quickly. There will always be a place for great cars (of which, I think, Taycan is one) but the number of folks willing to...
My previous 911 was also scratched by someone (in Calfornia!) but not as badly as these examples! It's unfortunate that average folks don't appreciate that by spending "big bucks" (ie "mucho Euros") on things like EVs (leaving aside the contribution to a carbon-free future) is money that goes...
Suggest testing that it actually works. I've never seen anyone reporting on whether pressing the P switch on the dash when the car is moving down the street actually stops the car (and how fast).
Also avoid if you can tire kicking ... or if you can't avoid it kick all four with the same force. I did that before buying the Taycan and it's made all the difference. :)
Wondering if there might be a 'poor man's' version of !two-way charging" in case of a home power failure. I have a Yeti 1000x (formerly Goal Zero) portable power station which is optionally charged through its 12V port.
Question is: in an emergency, could the power station be re-charged from...
Reading this good information makes me think that if one charges to 95% just before leaving on a long journey and charging to 95% along the way probably wouldn't be a bad thing at all, since the big problem with 100% charging is if the battery sits for a while at that level.
Might be an edge case, but I'd be happy with the ability to connect the Taycan battery to a 1500W-3000W 120v inverter for powering several sump pumps in cases of heavy rain or powering emergency LED lighting if the power were to go off for a couple of days.
Ford just announced that future EVs would sport two-way charging meaning that a vehicle could be used as back-up power in a home or shop. I'd love to have this functionality in my Taycan. Any thought on whether this could be a retrofit, assuming that Porsche got on board with the idea?
I just realized that by turning over the band around the insert I was able to fit the MAGSAFE insert I previously described in this thread snuggly into the front cupholder and still leave about 1/4-inch of space between the insert and the console. So I'm even happier with this insert because it...
