There’s a 2025 CT on a dealer’s showroom floor with 5 miles on the odometer. I called them to book an appointment and mentioned this car. They said I couldn’t drive it (new) but said they’d have it ready to inspect. When I arrived it was plugged in at 100% charge. They’ve told me they have “no idea” why it isn’t sold. It’s a decent spec, very close to what I want. They have been firm in negotiations, only offering the $10k off new 2025 inventory

One word: ugh

Two questions:

1) how “bad” is this?
2) shouldn’t they know better?!

ps: I didn’t feel like the salesman was very nice. He was kinda a douche and a bit dismissive. I didn’t bring up the 100% SOCSNAFU.

Not recommended keeping it at 100 SoC, but no big deal.
What is the full spec on it, that way we can review and tell you why it is not sold yet.

There are still new 2024 Taycans with 2023 build dates. Many 2025s have not sold.
You have more leverage, but you need to shop other dealers in other states

I added the “no idea” quote because I thought it was quirky because to me it’s obvious why it isn’t sold: too expensive. It’s a high spec low trim level.

What is everyone's feelings on a realistic end-of-year discount for a 2025 Taycan CT with a MSRP around 140k? Right now the 10k incentive brings it down to around 130k.

Does anyone have any insight on how Porsche dealers talk about price? It seems to me like they are trained to not bring up price until the customer does.

The lease incentives are there in 2025 from Porsche Financial. GTS and higher is still getting $15k off
You need at least 10% off, but in sitting inventory you can go even higher.
If a dealer wants to move a sitting car, you can go to 18% or more, plus the $15k off on a lease.

Look at the window sticker of the car to see when it came to the dealer. The longer it's been there, the more discount you can ask for.
Just don't listen to the sales persons script

How do you do this? Tell them "no, I think you should take my offer" or escalate the offer to the sales manager?
Just know what you’re willing to pay and offer it. They take it to the sales manager automatically.

And know that no matter what number you give them, they’ll come back with a higher number. So start lower than what you’d actually be willing to pay.

But note, they do this for a living. They’re better at negotiating.

Almost everything is negotiable and part of the deal. That includes selling price, trade in, financing, warranties and add ons, etc.

Just for fun, I had Carvana make an offer on my highly spec'd '24 4S. Its original MSRP was a bit over $165k and has 11k miles. They offered $70k. My point is unless you are leasing, there are many great used vehicles out there. Take a look.

Always start your process online. Explain that you're buying a car this month, explain that you have the cash/credit + have had similar cars, and are trying to get a feel for how motivated they are to move it over this year.

Send this email to a few dealerships and link the spec car you're looking at.

Advantage here is you're generally handled by someone who has done many more deals than if you just walked in off the street and asked for a test drive

If you'd like to save a lot of money just grab a CPO though - depreciation is wicked here.

On the facelift the CT 4 / 4S / Turbo all have exactly the same hardware and all can be tuned to 940 PS, so if you are aware of that fact, and it's a high spec 4 or 4S, then good for you ;)
