A friend has had his RWD delivered to the dealership in the UK without the 12v battery! They are saying once the battery is delivered they will release the car. They've told him expect 2 months!

This means zero cars will be completed for delivery for a period of at least two months? Seems unbelievable? They have no other sources of availability for these batteries except one factory?

No I don't think so. They are still producing the cars just not with 12v batteries then shipping them to make space I assume? Easier to ship batteries than cars. And as for supply chain being one factory? God knows mate!? Nothing Porsche does makes sense to me! As I said both of our cars went into production on the same day, both similar spec, I got mine he didn't. He also ordered his 3 months after mine.

I just found out the same. They did not tell me yet how long it will take though. So disappointed. At first I got the news that my car arrived, on Friday. Now, on Monday, I get these news.

Presumably they have shipped it with a standard lead acid battery or whatever they use in an ICE car. Maybe it is sitting in the frunk with some sort of extension to allow the car to be driven on and off the ferry etc. But they won’t let you have it with that

Update: the dealership told me that these campaigns need to have documentation attached on how to process them. Apparently this campaign doesn't have any documentation from the factory, so they basically don't know what to do, what to order, etc and it could last until October. Yuhuu.

A couple of Eveready lantern batteries duct taped together? ? On second thoughts probably something like a motorbike 12V AGM battery...or 2

So how bad is this battery shortage? My car has been produced since July and showing In transit to Emden Port since 07/12/22. The current estimate time of delivery is 12/02/22. Is it really going to be another 4 months out?

I am in the same boat as you. Between getting the batteries, allocating/installing them, and completing the journey, 2-4 months is pretty likely. I am just counting on getting my car before the end of the year now. My car is done too and was supposed to be delivered next week…
