Deactivate operational readiness
What's that?
In the old days, it was called "ignition off".

Taycan manual says: "When you get into the vehicle, the key you have with you is detected by the vehicle, and readiness for operation is established automatically. ... To protect the battery, only leave the vehicle in standby mode (ready for operation) and only use the active electrical equipment for as long as is absolutely necessary."
---2022 Taycan owner's manual page 113.

I was told by another owner, a Taycan is never really "off".

I don't think any modern car is ever really "off", unless you disconnect the battery. Most of them listen for key proximity or app connection requests. Normally these functions take very little battery, but they do take some, and if you are constantly accessing your vehicle via an app I would think that that will surely accelerate battery drain.

After driving and parking my car the 12v battery showed 13.5v.
When I checked this morning, after charging the main battery overnight, the 12v battery showed 13.2v. Unplugged from the main battery charger, still 13.2v. Once I powered up (operational readiness ?) intending to drive, only then did the 12v battery increase up to 13.5v. So the main battery did not charge the 12v when parked and “not operational“…only when intending to drive did the voltage increase. That’s important info for me or anyone leaving their car parked for lengthy periods.
Anyone finding anything different?

Mine (CT4s) shows 13.7v consistently during driving. Wasn’t sure that was correct so just switched it on and it was at 13.2v and it steadily rose to 14.0 then back to 13.7 in 30 seconds.

My 2020 Chevy Bolt when plugged in checks the state of the 12V battery every 4 hours and charges as needed. Not plugged in it checks the 12v battery every 4 days. The battery is an AGM by the way.

Thanks for the feedback

My car is brand new November 2021 and classed as a 2022 version. I do not have any accessories connected to the car
My 12v also died. Funnily enough, my car was delivered Nov 2021 and classed as a 2022 version.

Here is a fact: My 2021 Taycan is my weekend car. It is not driven much. We also had a death in the family, so we didn't touch the car over a month.

This resulted in the 12v battery getting discharged and the car completely dead! It needed a jump start. This is despite the fact that the main high-voltage battery was still 47% full when we jump start the car.

So Taycan's 12v battery does NOT charge from the main battery when parked. Not in the 2021 model, at least.

It does, but there are limits
- for a limited duration (up to 30 minutes per charge session)
- up to 50% SoC
- a total of 8 charge session whilst the car is otherwise parked / ‘off’

If your 12v battery health isn’t good, you exceed the total number of charge sessions, have a higher parasitic draw then the algorithm isn’t infallible.
