Agreed, no harm in keeping and I would definitely have done that if it could have been repaired!

Interesting to me is that you find the Bose to be "cleaner". My 2020 had the Burmester and, while I don't consider myself an audiophile at all, the Bose is a huge downgrade after listening to the Burmester every day for 4 years. It's really my only complaint about the 2025.
I have Burmester in my Cayenne and Bose in my Taycan - in comparison the Bose is awful. The standard system in a Taycan loaner I had was worse still. The difference is most noticeable when going from listening to a new track at home to listening to the same track on Bose - the instruments, especially drums and cymbals, just turn to mush, there’s no separation.
The Bose car system cost about the same as my non-Bose home system.
Streaming bandwidth/download quality is a factor (wired is best, CarPlay is better than BT or a PCM-Spotify connection) but compression limitations are more apparent with Bose than Burmester.

Interesting observations. Have you tried playing uncompressed audio (wav) from USB?

I agree and did not know the ACC was Audi-sourced.
Many of the components are VW Group sourced and not unique to the Taycan. You don't have to look too far behind some of the trim (for example) to spot VW stamped on some of the components.

No - not through my Taycan’s BOSE. Have you tried that method?
I have used CD wav files in to the Cayenne’s Burmester, but not for a while. Something i now only do now on solo road trips, when i can crank up the volume. The drums on Steely Dan’s Aja are a stand out memory - there‘s a moment mid drum solo where you can clearly hear a click of the drum sticks.

i’ll create a USB of those wav files sometime to compare back to back with Carplay’s WiFi AirPlay through Bose and let you know.
There‘s supposed to be no audio difference between CarPlay wired and CarPlay wireless. I‘ve not tested that - to force wired i’d have to turn off my phone BT and Wifi, which means using PCM Nav rather than Carplay Google Maps, which i prefer.
Another factor against the PCM - Spotify integration is reliance on Vodafone coverage, which is poor for me. When it does work, my perception is that the streaming is ‘thin’ and inferior to CarPlay’s AirPlay, which is also using full fat Spotify files on my phone. The convenience of that method outweighs USB wav faff, - and it is a while since i bought a CD - but it will be a good comparison.
Spotify is supposed to be launching better auality soon. Whether that is perceptible in a car system will be interesting.

Have you tried Tidal? With Bose this sounds pretty good but sadly cannot say if would be as good through Burmester.

I’ve not tried Tidal - the thought of migrating a decade’s worth of stuff from Spotify is a negative. I could be out of date, but I understand the music coverage isn’t as wide - and I don’t know if Tidal also has Podcasts and Audiobook?

Definitely not was wide but all high quality - minimum CD and nearly everything new MQA. No podcasts or audiobook that I am aware of
