Our local Porsche dealer (Porsche Beaverton) has been excellent in fixing our Macan EV Turbo, even though Iwe ought it elsewhere. They never relegate ours to the end of their service priority list, have had a loaner every time (apologize when it is not a Porsche EV), and really CARE! True as a first month of manufacture 2024 model year, our Macan had to initially go back to them too many times — both for hardware and software fixes, but nicely the last six months it has not had to go back even once (except when I got a big nail in the tire a block from them).

So sorry for those who dealers do not seem to care and/or seem unable to fix your EV Porsche in a timely manner.

I think the issue with all non South East governments (EU, Germany, UK, etc.) is that too much complacency has set in.

A serious wake up call is needed; and unfortunately just the automotive industry slowly dying is not enough to provide that necessary jolt…

… but I remain hopeful and sincerely wish that the German automotive industry regains its excellence.
You are correct but the wake up call has been blaring for a decade but the passing of the CHIPS Acts in the US & Europe are beginning the long fight back to the strategic control of sovereign chip manufacturing being brought back to countries outside of China.
Ai will accelerate innovation and eliminate many if not all repetitive tasks performed by low skilled and even high skilled manufacturing labor along with the majority of administrative employment. Every single repetitive tasks a human can do will be done by automation cheaper. Unfortunately people are expensive to maintain.
Every nation will be forced to consider things like universal compensation & heathcare when unemployment becomes unavoidably high & unsustainable. China is doing nothing different than Japan did in the 1980s to the US auto industry. The US did bounce back. They stopped making cars that completely rusted out in less the 5-7 years like our 1973 Ford LTD. I bought a 1982 280ZX which was only offered with 3 trim packages. Base, Sport & Luxury with only one or two other options like AM/FM Cassette player or AM/FM only.
I had recently cancelled my 1982 Chevy Camaro with over 50 options and a 12 week leadtime when the dealer told me my vehicle delivery was being delayed by another 2-3 months.
My best friend took delivery of the exact same 1982 Camero which had never ending transmission & engine issues.
It took GM several decades to come back & be competitive again.
Porsche hasn’t gotten as bad as GM but they don’t have an easy road back to where they once were.
I do have reason to be confident they will endure and flourish once again but they are at least a few years away.

Porsche Austin has been great with us as well, and we didn’t get ours from this dealership.

At least in the U.S., dealerships make more revenue from service work than from sales (though that is a several year old industry-wide conclusion and not sure in this new EV world it is still accurate), so being good to new service customers who did not buy from them is a very smart business practice. And as many have subsequently done (all brands), those new to the dealership through service experience people then often buy from that dealership their next vehicle.

I've owned Porsches back to the 356. I have loved Porsches. I even loved my Taycan for many years - but gave up on it recently. I am fed up with dealer service AND fed up on Porsche's declining responsiveness and quality.

Symbolic of the situation is the fact that PCNA customer service has absolutely failed to even respond to TWO recent emails about a possible refund on my Porsche connect.

So I figured I'd contact a senior executive - and this is what I get on their web site (a perfect, and sad, metaphor ):

If anyone cares, I think I tracked down the email of PCNA president (no thanks to Porsche!): [email protected]

Sadly he also failed to respond in any way (I was willing to hear "we don't issue partial refunds" BUT got no (zero) response).

Now I am doubly depressed...Porsche has truly gone to crap.
