Ambient lighting help

Hi. Just specking a 4S build and the dealer recommended the ambient lighting option. No too expensive at £299 but I am not sure that I really need it.

My question is what it gives you that is extra. I know it allows you to have coloured lights in various areas like the cup holders and foot wells but I am not clear if these areas are already lit or not. Is it adding lighting to these areas or just the facility to change the colour of light in an area that is already lit?

If anyone has it, do you like it?

I didn't spec it - just seems superfluous.

The ambient lighting will give you light (coloured) beyond what you get as standard and the standard is generally subdued and only lighting up when doors are open etc. If you want pink door panels (or blue or green or ...) then you'll need ambient lighting.

I believe it will sync with Apple Music and adjust the lighting to the theme of the music.

Personal choice but depending on your spec, spend the money on something else (or don't spend it at all).

It would be better if Porsche enhanced the lighting in the boot (saloon) as it is pretty poor and difficult to see in the dark.

Before deciding take a look at a Taycan with and without the feature.

I really like the warm white ambient lights on my car, gives a smooth and comforting atomsphere in the car. Would spec it again!

I have it on my 4S and it is very good. You can change the colour and intensity. Warm white, orange and blue all look good. I think it will be good in the Autumn and Winter when the days here are so short.

Came with the premium package in my case. I priced stuff separately and buying the package was a better deal and gave some extras.

299 of over 100k. I say it’s worth it since it’s always visible for your and your passengers. Creates a nicer atmosphere in the cabin.

Honestly I think the Premium package is all worth getting.

I love the ambient lighting, but I have never been able to get the Dynamic lighting to work. I set it, but the light never seems to change.

I have been trying to work out the pattern, why choose red for some songs and blue for others?

I have a suspicion that the light colour is determined by the album cover shown on PCM. If the album is a red bias that is what the light shade becomes.

I tested it for a few songs in row, it seemed to hold true even through it seems like massive overengineering !

It’s in the interior section on the UK configurator. There are no packages in the UK.

I always listen to XM radio, that doesn't seem to change the color. Has anyone gotten it to work with XM?
