Open allocations, especially for GTS or GTS ST, will not be available for sometime. Best way is to submit an order demand and wait...Please PM me if you'd like to submit an order demand!
Really? I didn't think the regular GTS was any harder than the others, just the wagons were.

Every Taycan is difficult right now...it might be easier to get a RWD, say, if you're on the east coast, but Taycan allocations are tough at the moment.

Off topic, but I'm utterly fascinated how U.S. car dealerships have created, and are now trapped in, a vicious circle of achromatic cars. They tell customers that they must specify a colorless car or else it won't have maximum resale value, and then tell trade-in customers that their car that is not colorless won't have maximum resale value. Since 95% of U.S. car purchases are from dealer inventory, it's increasingly difficult to distinguish the real world from a somber black and white movie. So depressing and mediocre, yet entirely avoidable if people didn't timidly group-think.
Agreed that we see waaay too many white/black/gray/silver cars these days... Did you actually choose the Mamba Green? Bravo if so! I considered it, but my wife and I decided that we weren't brave enough to order it without seeing a Taycan in that color in person... Went with the far more boring, but at least not exactly on the white-black spectrum coffee beige :) I really wanted Speed Yellow like on my 2000 Boxster S but they didn't offer it (apart from custom of course) and perhaps the Taycan is too big a car for that color anyway.

@ssim and all, will the car be given a temporary tag from the dealership’s state or the buyer’s home state (in my case California)? My credit union (a local one) is saying that they will not finance until the car is registered in California.

Great question! When you purchase a car from an out-of-state dealer, they typically give you a temp tag from their state. Most dealers use a third-party service to complete the registration process who then mail your plates & reg (for CA, you need to get a VIN Verification and SMOG Check for ICE cars, even if they're new...you provide this to the dealer, who'll pass it on; VIN Verification can be done at the DMV, and it's actually quick & easy).

I recommend you guys look into LightStream...I haven't used them, but it looks like a pretty easy process. It's an unsecured loan, so they wire you $ directly, but of course, the funds have to go towards a vehicle. You basically then buy the car in cash. I believe they're offering 3.99% for 60-72 months ($100k max loan amount), but that'll probably change as rates are expected to rise.

Since your location shows in California, do you know how it works when picking up a car from PECLA, given I heard that California decided to charge sales tax on all cars delivered there, whether registered in CA or not?

Out of curiosity, anything specific about RWD/east coast? Do east coast dealers get more RWD allocations for some reason?

I'm in CA, and I did PEC LA for a Cayenne E-H ordered from an out-of-state dealership...it wasn't an issue. I brought my temp tag (belonging to the dealer's state) and insurance on delivery day, and all was well!

The CA rule really comes to play when you're an out-of-state client buying from a CA dealership. If you decide to pick-up your car and drive home, because you perhaps live in a nearby state like NV, they'll most likely decide to collect CA tax. CA DMV offers a one-way transit permit...and the CA dealer could technically give you this and avoid collecting CA taxes...but whenever I've mentioned it, they're clueless or decide to be clueless because it's a liability for them.

PEC LA isn't a dealership, so they're not going to collect tax or be a part of the purchase process. PEC LA cars being delivered to people who reside in CA go through the Port of Benicia (which is in NorCal). PEC LA cars being delivered to people who don't reside in CA and plan to register it somewhere else go through the Port of Houston, and the client is supposed to sign another form. I don't really understand why that is, but it seems PCNA is trying to avoid any problems with CA by trucking some cars in from Houston.

Hope that helps!

I think East Coast dealers get fewer RWD allocations because of the climate, but there's also less demand for them. Even if they receive the same amount of RWD allocations as an FL or CA dealer, the east coast dealer is more likely to have slightly less demand for them, so it might be easier to snag an allocation.

At the moment, however, even RWD is difficult...and I don't think things will improve until Q2-3 next year.

Ah totally makes sense. Appreciate the insights!

There is something different about California as compared to other states when it comes to sales tax situation for out of state car buyer. I remember reading some things on this a couple of years ago, something about new laws passed which wanted to tax the outgoing cars regardless, since the government always wants money and pissing off out of state residents is ok as they don't have any voting rights in California. I see how PECLA not being a dealership might go around the problem - buyer buys the car in Huston or any state between Texas and California, which is not being as greedy, then truck the car over to PECLA for a "racing experience". I suspect California might tax the $550 PEC experience option price, but Porsche just eats it for out of state buyers (<$40).

I think the affidavit PEC has you sign basically says you fully intend to leave the state of CA as soon as possible after taking delivery...similar to the one-way transit permit I mentioned. The transaction should still be normal, meaning you work with your dealer and get temp plates from them.

I specified Mamba Green sight-unseen in 2019, on the assumption that Porsche wouldn't sell such an eye-catching color if it wasn't perfect for the Taycan. On delivery 11 months later, the sales rep said it was the only Mamba Green Taycan in the region (DC). BTW if you are going to PPF your Taycan, you can combine that with a stunning color change: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/pts-viola-metallic-via-ppf.8769/page-2#post-126726

Update for those who care: Our CT4 will be loaded on transport next week! I'll make sure to share photos and thoughts with everyone after we get to experience it for a while...We'll be using EA for a bit until the 240v outlet is figured out, so fingers crossed Plug & Charge works.

If you'd like to place a Taycan order demand @ MSRP (with no deposit required until you have an allocation) for any trim, you're welcome to PM! If you're in a bit of a time crunch and need something sooner (RWD or 4S), please PM...I can put you in touch with my SA who can share any available inventory cars if they become available. The two kind people on here who snagged the incoming RWD and 4S I mentioned weeks back are set to take delivery imminently :)
