I test drove the Taycan Turbo S with PAR yesterday and specifically requested twisty roads to test the Active Ride.
Needless to say I was very impressed by the it.
Its only in Normal Mode, but I was driving pretty fast through the short canyon road.
It was planted, very minimal body roll.
You have a very civilized sedan in Normal mode, switch to Sport or Sport + for a sports car. It's very Jekyll and Hyde with the PAR.

The easy entry is a small bonus, but I challenge anyone to find a B Pillar that is not at least scuffed on the current Taycan.
The issue with this platform is the B Pillar is too forward relative to the front seats and you have to fall into the car. Easy entry helps solve this.

The problem I found when driving fast in the canyons with PAR is I was isolated from the road, so there is less feedback on when I could be hitting my limits of grip. This is also why it's not available in Sport & Sport +
It's a comfort luxury feature.

@KenR the GT only has the active ride in Normal mode?
Active ride is on and behaves the same in all modes, you cannot turn it off.

The only difference in normal mode is the option to have it overcompensate by leaning in/out/back/forward for more comfort, but only if you choose to turn on the overcompensation feature.

Overcompensation option is not available in range, sport or sport +.

You definitely don't feel the overcompensation in Sport and Sport+.

Learning more here in this thread…. As to my most likely change of mind from my OP, my wife who has arthritis saw the below linked video short and said, “I am liking that option for my getting in and out.” She then read this entire thread. [LOL, what’s another $7,140 for we were already planning on getting PTSV+…]

THANKS to “oalsaker”for his/her summary larger-print spreadsheet below which comes from the “ET34” initially posted Porsche chart (thanks ET34), and thanks also to all who posted above.

newsroom.Porsche.com said:
Easy entry: when this function is activated, as soon as a door is opened, the body raises automatically by 55 millimetres. This makes it easier to get in and out. When the door closes, the Taycan lowers back down to the previous level.
https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/press-kits/taycan/Porsche-Active-Ride.html

As we know, the regular Taycan Saloon 4S normal ground clearance is 127 mm/5”. But with PAR/Comfort Entry (CE), what does the CE ground clearance become when a door is opened? Does the extra 55 mm/2 1/8” pop-up vehicle height listed in Porsche’s press release add to the initial 5” “normal” ground clearance, i.e.., does it become 7 1/8” total ground clearance when a door is opened??? Or is that 55mm increase come from its lowest clearance position of 105 mm and become a max of 160 mm/6.3”? Thanks. Might those who have PAR now, please do some confirming measurements on yours?

I had a loaner base Taycan for almost two months while one corner of my 4S’s suspension was being fixed after wifey ran over a fallen fence post at speed. The difference in comfort is quite noticeably better with the air suspension.

Waiting for the car to be raised would become tedious for most.
One does have the option to save the ride height by gps location, which is offered as a pop up whenever you raise it at a new location. This way, it rises up when I pull it in the driveway, for instance; no waiting.

It also only takes say 3 seconds to raise or lower.

it also automatically drops if raised after a certain speed; can’t remember which speed exactly, for sure by highway speed.

These features are part of the standard air suspension setup and the discussion is on Porsche Active Ride. 99% of us have air suspension and are familiar with its features and operation.

PAR is something different and a whole new level of chassis control.

I was this week on an event; driving through the swiss forests rotating through macan evs and the face lifted taycans.

What I can say for a fact is, if you are looking for taking corners at a much higher speed, active ride enables it. In my j1 taycan turbo with no active ride, I could never take the corners I was taking with active ride at the speed I was taking them. And I am not talking 5km difference, I am talking 30-40km+ difference in speed; the car felt glued to the road, giving me insane confidence in it even when driving dangerously fast

Out of everything the taycan turbo s facelift has, the only thing that felt like an upgrade was active ride. The car felt like on rails; so maybe not everyone's cup of tea.

I will also add that the blending of regenerative and phisical braking on the Macan EV is about 90 times better than on the taycan facelift / taycan j1. The brakes felt so much better. Makes me wonder why they didn't improve it on taycan facelift, when they clearly can do much better.

Another weird thing I noticed was that the acceleration pedal on J1.2 taycan was "heavier", requiring a bit more force to press.

hmmm... I am scared to think how "on rails" the new taycan must be compared to my turbo which already feels like on rails...

It'd be interesting to see comparable peak lateral g's (between Taycans with and without AR) as recorded on the onboard g-meter (having first zeroed its all-time high numbers). IIRC the SEC Taycans that had PDCC and 21" wheels showed peaks of around 1.3-1.4g though I don't know under what surface conditions and other circumstances.

I agree on that heavier pedal on the facelift. It was very noticable
