I think if you search the internet for almost any EV then you will find an example of them burning.
Usually it's caused by physical damage to the battery, or in case of the Taycan by defects in the pouch cell production by LG.

The chance is extremely low though, you have statistically a much higher chance of dropping dead because of a heart attack than your Taycan catching on fire.

Not what I stated - I was referring to a sudden cardiac arrest and probably thinking at a younger age than many here.

Maybe I should have used a different example - e.g. getting hit by space debris.

Ignoring the likely-hood of a fire happening or not, is this thread about a specific recent taycan fire?

Would be curious of the circumstances in which it happened. As in theory, the monitoring software that porsche chose to put into cars instead of actually replacing the defective hardware, would have had to give a warning / error long before a fire would have started.

If it didn't, it could be the main fuel in a court case against Porsche, proving inadequate measures taken to address recall - because porsche assured that the software would be enough to warn/prevent fires due to the many manufacturing defects - and a fire happening without any warning or accident would prove them wrong.

He isn't referring to the battery - he said inverter was ran without coolant and overheated. You're gonna be hard pressed to blame Porsche for that - when it has no coolant there are big red warning messages about it.

Cars will burn, but rarely so, electric ones even less so - that's what we're all saying.

I'd not give it much thought provided that
(1) there's physical door handles inside and out - the Taycan has that and
(2) ideally I'd want to be able to break the glass - mine has the double glazed side windows so the usual glass breaker tools won't work..

Regulations are just now appearing for the first item, it should really be the same for the other one, though unsure what the fix is..

I recently drove by this freak accident near by my home - where a mum with two kids misjudged a slippery road and ended up suspended in trees above the lake - they all walked away in good health - but yeah, it gets you thinking that just like seatbelts being standard, so should be being able to get out of the car.

Why do you keep your Taycan since you don't like it?

Do you have any relevant info to add or discussion related to the burning taycan?

Well Chun, the assumption of "you not liking your Taycan" is a thought not too far away when strolling through this forum. 😆
But good to read your clear statement towards the opposite.

I don't like having been lied to by porsche on promises of OTA and continuous improvements and updates, and I don't like porsche as a brand anymore after all this crap.
The car they made still drives great and I love it, but a 4 door sedan is not only about driving, I have better cars for that.

I just found it weird that this question, about me liking the car, gets asked every time I bring up that I am not a fan of software "fixes" to hardware defects, like Porsche did, which sit on the border of legality.

But it has been cleared up by Prj that the fire mentioned has nothing to do with the battery, and was just a irresponsible owner; so let's not spam further.
