Came back from 750 mile road trip.
Next day charged car with home AC EVSE using general profile of 85%. Charging completed. I disconnected charging cable. Instrument panel and console showed 85% SOC.
Following day SOC is 89% with 13 miles more range than previous day. General profile still shows it is set to 85%.

I've seen guess-o-meter range variations while car is unused, but not SOC variations. Any ideas?

I am totally hijacking with a small battery question. Is it really such a big deal to charge to 100% and then charge when it's kaput (unless you know you have a big trip coming up)? I totally get battery health, I'm old enough to remember having devices with ni-cads and stuff, but can't I ever just treat it like my gas tank (and other devices)? I'd fill up when it was empty. Just wondering if that sort of practice equals battery ?.

I have experienced the same thing- created a thread on it at one point.

My guess is it is the BMS doing a recalibration. Once the charging session is done and the pack is at zero current for an extended period of time with the contactors only, the BMS is likely taking the opportunity to do an SoC correction based on the open circuit voltage.

Your battery will last ever so slightly longer if you charge up to somewhere around 80-85% instead for daily use. If you don't want to do this, don't sweat it. It likely amounts to single digit additional range loss over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Thanks:). Maybe I'll play around a little, just to mix it up. I've read so many battery threads and know how they blow up and everyone has an opinion so just wanted to bury this here heh.

Interesting I started having a similar behaviour since a few weeks. In my case, my timer is supposed to charge to 50% each morning and one day I ended up with 54%. Then I changed the charging timer to 45%, and one day I ended up with 49%. Both times there was an extra 4% which is strange...

Thanks for the information.
Unlikely that exact same increases of 4% are caused by ambient temperature changes over time, which would be expected to vary.

Did anyone one find out why the car is charged extra 4%? This keeps happening randomly independently of the chosen target charge. This morning I put the Target at 55% and it charged at 59%.

Today it happened to me for the first time. General profile was set to 75% and charging was ended up with 79% with no temperature change in the garage…

Did you set a preferred charging time in the profile?
I think it is a bug related to that. Previously I was using optimized charging option and I did not have the issue.

No, I didn’t set any charging time..General profile set to 75% minimum charge as I always did.. The only thing different was , lt was connected to AC unit about 3 hours more after charging was finished..

It’s a result of the BMS doing an SoC recalibration once the battery is resting at zero current. It’s a little weird because most companies filter this out of their reported SoCs to reduce customer confusion, but it’s not a big deal.

Possible related situation: Today arrived at DC fast charge site with 13% SoC. Partially charged car there to about 45%. At home did AC charging from 36% with general profile only set to 75%. Charging estimated to complete at 730 pm. At 11 pm, disconnected charging cable. SoC after charging was 80% - 5% higher than general profile.

SoC recalibration likely to be the cause?
