^ Alas, that is totally true. The irony is that VAG's own subsidiary is to blame (with Siemens taking its 9% share).
Does anyone know how long it takes for the battery to prep for max charge?
If I don’t use the PCM to navigate to the EA station do I manually start the preconditioning process instead to get the faster charge rate?

^ Depends on the air temp. You can figure the right cluster to show the battery temp so as to see the progress you're making toward warming up the battery temp. And putting the drivetrain in Sport Plus will help heat up the battery.

What is the ideal temp for the battery to optimize charge? I assumed when I am am driving on a long trip that the battery is already hot but it sounds like preconditioning actually heats the battery even more.

Porsche specs 30-35, which is 86-95 in Freedom Units.
So you're hitting that on pretty much any typical summer drive, or even on a cooler day if you've been driving awhile with the drivetrain in Sport or SportPlus.

And none of that matters on a charger that can't hit the Taycan charging curve anyway.
For example, at Magic Docks, which I've found max out in the 130s on the vehicle end (with the 150kW option), I've hit the 130s immediately and stayed there regardless of battery temperature in relatively cool weather (although I haven't tried any bitter cold temps).

Thanks. I’m almost always between 89 & 95F so it appears the chargers I’m using may not be capable of 270 even though they are rated at 350.

I hit over 260 a couple times at EA stations. I have been lucky and/or good and will take either ?

On the screen, is the button to select Precool/heat for the battery preconditioning? I was told by my salesman that this was to preheat/cool the interior & not the battery.
If this is for the battery then how long does it take to reach the ideal temp for charging if I select precook/heat with a typical outdoor temp between 65 & 75 degrees in my garage?

Cabin.

As was pointed out earlier, the only ways to precondition the battery are to a) select a charger (HVDC) as a destination in the built-in nav, or b) switch the car into Sport Plus mode.
