There are suggestions on this thread that would lead a DIY'er to believe they can figure out how to manage their own install or buy some device that splits the current between the dryer and EVSE. You can't do it safely and the codes are changing so what is recommended now may not be down the road. An EV is going to pull a lot of current for a lot longer than a dryer or any other electrical device in your home. It needs special attention and it needs quality components. More akin to a commercial than consumer install.

Get a qualified electrician AND one who is knowledgeable on installing EVSE's. The risk of an installation gone wrong is fire/damage/injury. You won't get any warranties from anyone on the advice they provide

My recollection is that the Admin posted a thread on this which basically got ignored.

Thanks to all the responders. Obviously above my pay grade so I called an electrician. By the way, is it worth getting a Tesla adapter in case there are no other charging stations available (when traveling)?
yes it always helps to have more options
