While charging my Taycan , it started having a very strong electrical smell. I called the dealership they told me it was the cord. I am now borrowing a cord for my friend and waiting for a cord that is on order. However now the car will only charge to around 150 miles. Then I have to keep unplugging and re plugging the car in to get more mileage on it. Has anyone had this issue? Dealership cannot get the car in till November. I commute further than 150 miles for work, not a good situation. I also got this email from Porsche. Any help would be appreciated.

@MONICA TAYCAN you presumably have the Porsche PMC+ or PMCC charger.

Did you only swap the cable on the same charging device or did you borrow an entire new device? Can you share photos of what you were using and are now using?

Also if you have a way of measuring please tell us what the temperature is / how hot it can get in the space where you charge the car.

@B61’s advice is good, but there might be other issues.

Hi and thank you for your response. I swapped the entire charging device. My garage can get approximately 90 degrees at the hottest.

recommend an alternate EVSE from many many possible choices (some as low as $200) - the PMCC/PMC+ is a flawed product and should most likely be avoided.

there are better higher quality alternatives for way less money - in this particluar circumstance the "porsche tax" does not equal higher quality or better performance - it is in fact the opposite - it's one of the worse EVSE's on the market and also the most expensive…

you're better served with an alternative EVSE.
