In my experience search functions on forums are pretty awful but I'll give it a go.

It was a quick ask for help as I'm away from home and the car is obviously setup wrong and overcharging. Hence the quick post.

Some really great how tos on the reply so definitely worth it.

The manual is very "German".

It's about as clear as mud and really, with good HMI, it absolutely shouldn't be needed.

Anyway much to learn. Looking forward to getting back home and driving the thing!

cheers,
Ruaraidh
So if already charged then I assume you've disabled the Profile (and Timer) if still connected to your wallbox.

I'd recommend the Location based Profile and TImer setup - here's what I've used since 2020 (until I went OVO Charge Anytime (£0.07p / kWh) which automatically creates and controls its own Profile in the PCM) - works flawlessly. Leave your car connected and as the example is a daily timer it only comes into play if the car is physically connected to your wallbox (EVSE) - so set once and forget.

One other point of interest.

If using Octopus Intelligent Go (not sure of other smart charging systems) if you leave the car plugged in, on the 2nd night it will charge up to 100%.

So say your target is 85%....it will do that overnight. But if it stays plugged in and no changes are made - it will then charge to 100% the following night.

That's truly bizarre.

Thanks for pointing out.

Hey folks,

New Taycan owner here. Set up a charging profile for 85% max on the hours of our cheap overnight charging (it was enabled, I disabled it in case it was the problem).

But now I find it keeps charging to 100% and I'm away for the week and left it plugged in (as I've done for years with a Tesla and it would just sit at 85% no problems).

What am I missing? Why is it overcharging?

Thanks!

In case you have remote access to your car - I spotted my dealership (who should know better) had charged my car to 100% (I think it was a Friday) and it was due to be a very hot weekend whilst they had it. I waited until it was cooler in the evening and repeatedly told the car to heat to 30°C every hour until the battery level dropped back to 85%.

100% isn't really an issue now and then. I always charge to 100% when doing a longer journey for the day when I know I'm going to use it.

Remember also that 100% is never 100% as a safety buffer is maintained specifically to protect the battery and hidden from use. On the Taycan it is higher than most - so your 100% is probably 90% of the gross battery capacity. You miss out on range because of this.

Also - 8 yr warranty and I doubt you will keep the car that long.

Been sat at 100% for ten days. Not ideal.

So send a preheat request to consume some energy to get your level down and repeat until you get to 85% - if still remote.

Still I wouldn't sweat it.
