Aloha Everyone,

I have a question but not sure if this was asked/discussed on a different thread. It seems that every since I received the big uPdate a couple months ago, my charging distance at 85% has decreased from a normal 225-230 miles to as of today 202 miles. Is anyone else seeing this phenomena? I asked my SA at Porsche Hawaii and he hinted but didn't outright say that others on island have brought the same issue up to him as well. His only suggestion is to call Porsche NA and file a complaint. I personally believe that Porsche knows about this and are using the rouse of the 2023 model year to push a software update to fix this. What do you think?

My CT4 also has reduced range despite the consumption being the same. My only conclusion is that the battery has already degraded. I'm not particularly happy about it

Yes - there is a long thread on uPdate and feedback post which discusses this at length.

Many people (including me) had severe reported range reduction (not actual) - 30% for me. This changed after several weeks and is now back to normal levels. Not clear yet if I will see any increase.

Meanwhile, others have reported no change or a range increase albeit small.

We believe it is a software thing and not a material problem with your battery. Look at your Trip data for consumption figures and then calculate the range to expect based on the net battery capacity.

I did expect when I got the uPdate that my mileage would decrease in the beginning and as time went by the mileage would get back to the original or maybe even add a few more miles but after my uPdate I had the original mileage of 225-230 but as the past couple of months of progressed my mileage has steadily decreased and as of this morning my mileage reduced more...now 85% is 199 from the last reported 202 a few days ago. I'm thinking of asking Porsche Hawaii to reinstall the software. Taycans (EVs in general) are nothing more but computers on wheels anyway so rare occasions you need to reinstall/reimage a computers OS when its acting up.

Luckily I live on a island where high mileage EVs are not necessary since I can still circle the island twice on the current charge level :)

Just monitor your day-to-day consumption. I bet it’s the same as it was before uPdate.
That’s why I think that new software version has different alghoritm for range prediction.

I just did 2 journeys of around 200 miles. Average 65mph and 55mph. Temperature around 12-15c. Mostly motorway. Both journeys the average I got was 2.4 miles/kw. Basically 200 miles range, which matches what the car is currently predicting.
On 1st leg i ran the car from 100% down to about 10% before filling up. The second leg was with soc around 85% and recharging around 40% battery.

Prior to the update, I didn't look at it religiously, but the odd time I did look at consumption it was more in the region of 2.8~9 m/kw and the predicting range in the car was generally around 230-240 miles.

So something has happened to range on mine by whatever indicator you use (both of which pretty much tally fwiw).

I'd add that straight after the update it car was indicating 220 miles range, and has declined over last month or so to 200.

It could be that your car was over reporting the range and the uPdate has brought it back in line.

My 85% charge now takes me to 208 estimated miles (immediately after uPdate it was 189 miles (!!)) which is back more or less to where I would expect it to be.

Personally I think the estimated range is not that meaningful and more of a comfort blanket. What is key to know is your typical consumption for long journeys - anything < 3.0 miles / kWh is on the high side.

Take a look at your Trip data - Total, Since etc - this is more useful in calculating what you actual range is likely to be than to rely on a single snap shot after charging.

Yes, I am seeing the same with my 2021 Taycan 4S. It was charging to 218 miles at 85% and is now around 200 miles at 85%. It is a little over 1 year old and this seems unusual.
