Was hoping for some advice or solutions to my charging problem. I recently erased and then created a new charging Timer and Profile and I’m finding that my Taycan does not fully charge overnight to its target charge of 85%. It seems to always come up short to 68%, 73%, etc.. Below are my settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Timer Settings:
Date and Departure Time: 7:45AM / Daily
Charging: Checked
Target Charge: 85%

Profile Settings (General Charging Profile):
Minimum Charge: 85%
Optimized Charging: Selected

When you say "come up short", can you measure how much it actually is charging each time you try? The other piece of information that might be useful would be an OBDII report.

I went through a time where everything looked like it was fine, but the charging session would stop just a few minutes after starting. The entire onboard HV charger had to be replaced.

So I'm a new owner so I don't have a ton of experience with this. But last night I created a timer and set it to be at 85% by 8am, but when I got to my car at 8:30am it was at 84%. Not a big deal but still I would think it would be able to get it right considering I gave it an extra 30 minutes. Looking forward to some of these responses to see if others noticed any weirdness with timers.

My math indicates at 40 amps for the Performance Battery+ chargeable capacity of 83.7 kwh, a full 0-100% charge can be achieved in 10.5 hours and for 10-85% charge in about 7 hrs and 15 mins. i.e. assuming your starting SoC is at least 10%, does your charge start by 12:30am and charging continuously at 40 amps?

what EVSE are you using? What is your panel/breaker amperage? I don't have a Taycan, but I do have a BMW PHEV with a Chargepoint Flex. The BMW operates on a similar departure time charge planner concept, though it doesn't have a parameter setting to charge up to a certain capacity.

A 3rd party smart EVSE should give you a graphic on charging rate and time allowing you to troubleshoot whether 1. you're charging at your max speed and 2.) you're charging during certain time frames. My guess is, your charge speed isn't fast enough, or the timeframe you allow the EVSE to charge isn't long enough to reach 85% by 7:45am. Therefore the car's charge profile or EVSE has likely prioritized charge timeframe or you just can't charge fast enough bc you are starting your charge too late/or your amperage is not high enough.

First, check and ensure the settings on both the car and EVSE do not conflict. Suggestion is if you use the car's charge planner such as your case, remove all parameter/conditions from your EVSE, if you use a smart EVSE like a Chargepoint. In this setup, your EVSE acts like a "dumb" charger, and your car determines when charging starts, completes, etc.

Next, ensure your settings on the car is configured for:

1. maximum allowable amperage (My BMW allows me to set the maximum amperage, IIRC, porsche charge settings also allows this) - ensure it is set to the maximum for your breaker panel (guessing 50/40 amps is what you installed) and assuming you don't have the 19.2 kw AC option + 100 amp panel.
2. charging time frame - do you have a setting that is charging only certain timeframes, specifically during offpeak hours?

If you're using the Porsche Mobile Charger with the replaced cable/sensor, I'd say ditch it, as recent reports indicates the sensor will throttle back the charge speed if cable gets too hot.
Ultimately, the best way to troubleshoot is to check the graph on your smart EVSE if it can display the charge speed and timeframe info.

This is because you selected "precondition" in the timer. For reasons only known to Porsche, the car uses battery power to precondition (heat or cool the cabin before departure), even when plugged in. During the precondition period it will draw down the battery a few percent, and then the charge target will kick in and it will charge back up again. You caught it at a low point in this cycle.

Firstly, with those settings, the Timer isn't controlling any aspect of the charging. The minute you plug in, your car is attempting to charge continuously to 85% and stop because of the minimum setting in the general profile. Either 1) your EVSE isn't pushing enough amps for some reason to get to 85% between the time you get home and when you leave, or 2) there is something wrong with the onboard charger. Either could be defective or overheating. I would plug in and look at the amps in the app while you are home each hour. The amps should be constant at your EVSE rating.

Optimized charging in the US can result in squirrely behavior, since it's set to work with extra utility equipment. I suggest you turn that off and set your profile to something low like 25%, then see if the timer works.

Don't use the General Profile - create your own location based one.

Don't set the minimum charge level to 85% (25% is more normal) otherwise you will start charging immediately.

Set the target charge to 85% and the rest should take care of itself (assumi

ng there is enough time to charge from plugging in).

Set preferred charging times if needed.

This worked. Thank you!
