Had the car 2+ years with the same Timer/Profile settings and the same EVSE (set to dumb charge).

My cheap rate electricity is 00:30-04:30. So settings have been set to this with a target charge of 85%.
Using a 7.4kw EVSE.

Lately I have been getting the 'charging not reached' message on my phone and it's often been a few % short.
Sometimes it's not started charging at all.
And sometimes it works fine.

But, as I often don't sleep well, I have been able to check it overnight.
It's almost as if the car doesn't know the time.

Eg It may need say 12kwh or so of charge (at 70%). So I would expect it to start at about 02:30.
But it may only start much later than that and immediately throw up the insufficient charge message and stop short. Or carry on charging past the cheap rate period.

It charges fine on direct charge.

One other thing I've noticed is the app doesn't seem to update often any more. It can be showing settings for say 12 hours ago, before I made numerous journeys.

Any thoughts?
It is booked in anyway for the update, so I will mention it then.

Live example

It was on 77% last night, but I still plugged it in to check things.
But it hadn't triggered at all this morning.

So I set direct charge about 30mins ago and it's already up to 82% - which is fine.

Charger is working at about 7.4kw

But look at the time on the phone and expected time for full charge!?!?

Have you tried deleting all profiles and timers then starting over?

Could be phone software related which don't forget will have had several updates in the past 2 years which may have introduced some otherwise undetected changes in behaviour. Long shot but worth a punt.

I forget, does the car show you what time it will be done charging on the center console screen? If so, does that time look off like the app?

Edit: quick google search suggests it does show this time on that screen.

Have you checked the time zone setting in the car?

Do you have a different EVSE to try?
Have you tried both AC charging ports ok the car?

I have noticed some irregularities too past weeks. For 1.5 years a I plugged in when coming home and had a timer at 6h 85% soc. This has worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. I am also getting the charge level cant be reached message regularly. Sometimes it is charged to less than intended (82, 83) sometimes it is charge to 85% but I can see on my electrical system app that it had been charging longer than 6h and not in the cheaper time. Same Wallbox EVSE same setting.

I did notice that now, sometimes when I get in the car the clock is not correct. This morning it was 19h10. Which is approximately the time when I got home yesterday. After driving one minute it corrected to the current time.

I had the lates software update at the dealer 2 weeks ago and it was present before and after. The clock thing I don’t know.

I had tried that, but I will completely delete the app and re-install and start again.
See if that does anything.

That sounds just like mine.

Stated a few weeks ago and was ending up about 82% or 83%.
Sometimes hit the 85% and now sometimes doesn't start at all.

I was thinking it may be the battery, but it seems to work fine on Direct Charge.

I will try both sides and see what happens.
?
I know the EVSE is ok, as its set to dumb and Direct Charge works fine.

Maybe the internal clock settings could be the problem. Seems like a coincidence they both occure at the same time.

My only thought on the EVSE is if the car is getting a bad reading when it goes to check the EVSE current capacity to calculate when to start charging. If that came back high, the it might delay the start of the charging. It’s possible there are other intermittent issues with the signaling also. Although, I can’t speculate on specifics without going through the specifications. But even “dumb” EVSEs have to communicate some minimum information with the car. Else it would just be a plain ol’ cord plugged into a receptacle.

@Fish Fingers apologies I am reviving this old thread, have you ever been able to solve this problem?

My car started having the same issue. When I had no issue the car would finish charging to the defined target in the timer around 1 hour before the defined time, now it just starts too late and misses the target. I have the same 11kw charger at home that always charges at the same speed.

I never got it completely working properly before I sold the car, but one thing improved it a lot.

I eventually contacted my EVSE provider and they looked at the logs.
The charger was often overheating and tripping off (rinse/repeat) - which obviously messed up the schedules.
When they looked into it, they actually said the mains current at our house is high (from the grid) and this led to the problem.
They remotely set the evse to run slightly warmer before tripping and this helped a lot.
In retrospect though, I wonder about the battery and car charging system.

I am also certain these was a comms problem with the car, but Porsche wouldn't look into it.

Eventually it threw the Charging Port Error and it went in and had the charger replaced, which also improved things.

My initial suggestions:

Try a different evse.
Try both ports.
See if happens during hot weather.

Various pics relating to the issue.
