Would you consider changing the title of this thread? For future people searching for helpful information, saying "...breaks warranty" in the title would be misleading based on the conversation that took place.
Done :) It now shows as "Choosing OBDII device - help needed". Please let me know if this fits better or please suggest something. As a new forum user, I want to be as helpful as possible and stick to the forum guidelines.

Reported Range by the car is not a reliable data point to make the claim that the range is very small
That's good to know! I thought it would be a reliable data point... I will have my OBDII device in a couple of days.

So the OBDII device together with Car Scanner app will actually give me a good reading on the battery SoH? That would be great.

Exactly right and then Battery Energy will show the exact capacity of the usable battery in kWh which is a true measure vs. calculated and reported Range by the car.

Before others jump in and say the OBD spot on reading is not as accurate, I say 1% variation vs. all day dealer test is good enough for me for accurate. Also, if you do the rebalance that variation wipes away as you gain as much as 3% in SoH instantly. Let's get your OBD readings first, then we can help you with rebalance.

Agree! 1% variation is good enough to me too :)

Now, it seems there is a "rebalance procedure"?! OMG!!! I'm learning so much here! And I'm loving it because my background is in IT and this car looks more and more like a computer with wheels :CWL:

Amazon is telling me my OBDII device will arrive tomorrow, but since it hasn't ship yet, probably I won't get it before Friday, so hopefully I will get my battery readings during the weekend and then I want to learn more about that rebalance! (actually I'm going to do a search as soon as I post this reply)

Thank you so much once again!!!

This is exactly what it is. Not just Porsche, but all EVs are rolling computers.
But its not a centralized OS like in your laptop, instead there are a few dozen modules each with their own software versions that must work together. Thus, software updates / dependencies are a real challenge. Other companies are much further along than Porsche in that regard.

I'm very interested in checking battery health because I bought my Taycan used a month ago and I have used it just a handful of times, but it seems that the range is VERY small. I know the Turbo S (MY23) has a limited range but what I'm getting seems to be too small. I will post about it on a different topic, not to mix different things into this topic.
Cold weather kills range ..hopefully that is your issue

I can help you with rebalance procedure, you do not need to search and find something that is not the official procedure. Let's start with your OBD readings then we can go to a rebalance that is easy to do. You would want to do a reading before and then after the rebalance.

Quick question regarding the rebalance: shall I charge the car to 100%?

@RBGtaycan I hope you’re right about winter killing range… I bought my car used with 2 and a half years old and just 20,500 Km (less than 13.000 miles). Hopefully the battery is still good to great. Here in Portugal it is not too cold - roughly 10 degrees Celsius (42 F give or take).

Thank you all once again!!!

Quick update: my OBD device just arrived. I will try to get my readings later tonight and I will create a new post for the rebalance procedure thread.

Please do not create another thread. We have SoH thread already. Please post your readings and then rebalancing procedure is also in the same thread as linked below and posted multiple times with official Porsche TSB source, but it is a simple procedure.

Sure! I won't! I will use the one you mentioned. Thanks again!

Quick last question: for the rebalancing, is it important to have the car charged to 100%?

42 F will DEFINITELY reduce range (by my experience) ..it is not as bad as 0 F ..but there is hope..AI says about 20% drop....my experience says it could be more..drive modes impact range..so toggle between them to see what the Guessometer says

When doing my 250 km drive last night at 0c I swapped a few time between Range mode (which was 98% of the journey) and regular mode and found it seems to represent just a few kms difference. I wonder if the tire wear of running low makes the savings not worth the cost.

Driving in Range mode is bad for tires? I'm not sure what will be better: have less range, stop for charging and pay for it every now and then, or have a big bill to new tires

This is a chart from another thread that I found interesting, not only for the difference between a real car and spec, (which I would expect on a Chevy Malibu but not a Porsche) but the difference at heights. In all cases I’d expect camber to be impacted but it’s a very strong case for absolutely neutral toe at the center of the arc
