To avoid getting fingerprints on my black paint I have been pushing down on the Porsche badge to close my bonnet.

I have seen some comments on Facebook (admittedly about the 992) suggesting that this can damage the bonnet.

Do any of you know if this is true?

I've had my frunk open maybe 2 or 3 times and also close it by pushing on the emblem ... I can understand its not the ideal spot to put pressure on and that it most likely is better to use two hands a bit further apart to spread the force you're putting on the bonnet.

I mainly use the trunk, atleast that one has a button to close the damn thing :)

Most of the time I am closing the bonnet because I have pressed the wrong button on the remote and opened it accidentally!

Pressing on the emblem/badge to close the frunk has been a long established way of closing the frunk....

I doubt you will find any forum post or any news item where a Taycan user damaged their bonnet because of this...

Pressing the logo seems to be a good way to close the frunk among several brands. I am wondering whether it is possible to mount a Power Frunk like on Tesla's aftermarket parts.

This is from the 2022 Taycan online Owner's Manual:

On delivery, I was told the opposite - close the hood using each hand on the edge of the hood. Did it this way until I read the owner's manual....

I don’t see the issue. Using two hands does nothing but apply force to either side of the latch 6”-8” away from the center latch & spring.
I’d contend that pressing on the badge is very close to the spring and the safest place to press to close the frunk.
I’ve been closing my frunks for 20+ years and have never damaged anything.

The Macan now has a lovely power close for the frunk. Maybe it’ll come to the Taycan sometime

Agreed. Since the spring/latch is in the center, then you should press in the center, and emblem helps you find the center easily.

If for some reason there were latches on each side, then I would think pressing with two hands would be the better option.
