Considering a used taycan - advice?

Currently driving an ipace hse and looking at swapping to a taycan.

Not afraid of a used EV but have a couple of questions.

looking at a 4S prob a 2021 or 2022 or there is an option to go turbo but probably then looking at a 2020 or 2021 model at best to stay on budget.

common sense says get the newer car with more battery warranty but turbo….

Do I really the performance of the turbo or go for the lower risk option as the 4s is prob plenty rapid (I was looking at rwd when I started). Any must have options to try to get on spec or things to look out for?

Go turbo or turbo S you will always regret not going for it since you’re already leaning that way. You’re only talking one year more on your battery warranty so I don’t see that being an issue. Now if you were going 24 to 20 then yes that four years would be harder to pass up. There are some 2020’s that still have cpo warranty on them.

I’d say the 4S is pretty quick, but if you live somewhere you can really make use of the acceleration, then go for the Turbo. That said, I’d personally choose a car with all the options you want—except maybe the 22kW onboard charger and the 3D 360 camera. Both of those features tend to have issues and often need Porsche to fix or replace them.

I was originally set on the 4S or higher, but I ended up finding a 4S with every option ticked, plus the exterior and interior colours I wanted, and the sport package. It was the perfect balance.

Most haves for me where:
Sports chrono
Colour black,
Rear wheel steering
2+3 seating
Acc,alk
360 camera - a must as it so wide
Bigger battery

Larger battery is a must, and really CPO too. I have a 2021RWD and I love the rear motor, relative simplicity, and where I live in California it's rare to need more acceleration than is provided with the single motor. The steering is awesome without the cumbersome front motor

GTS if you can but that would be 2023 - best compromise across the range IMHO.

If 4S then make sure it has the Performance Battery Plus (extended range and was an option back then).

I enjoyed my 4S for 2 years (MY21) and my GTS ST (MY23) much more if that helps.

My advice? - the newer the better, not only for warranty reasons but the newer cars generally (not always!) have fewer problems. Definitely get a car with a Porsche warranty, preferably from a Porsche dealer.

The 4S has plenty of power for everyday plus weekend fun on public roads. If you're a power junkie DON'T test drive a Turbo as then nothing less will do: the acceleration is intoxicating and addictive - I settled on a well-speced GTS after driving a Turbo as a way (hopefully!?) to protect my licence - so far so good .

Ipace has been great. I moved from a Tesla to it and it feels like a car not a toy, it is well put together and very comfortable and drives well. Honestly it’s just not overly exciting. If you think the value dropped on the taycan it absolutely dissolved on the ipace so some amazing deals out there right now. Earlier models had battery issues but anything MY21 or newer seems solid.

options don't seem the affect the price much. So I would look for one with the most options vs a stripper model. Must have are premium package and bigger battery.
