When I first took ownership of my car, one of my two cupholder lights intermittently worked. After a software update many moons ago, never had the issue again.

They do.

They're easy to take out (there's a vid linked to on here) and you could easily find it's just a clip that has come out.

The spring loaded bars had gone awol in mine. Took 10mins to get both out, glued them onto the holder (as the small plastic tabs had snapped - piss poor design) and all back OK.

Thanks, that means I’m not going mad and I have yet another fault on a 3 month old Taycan! Honestly loosing the love of this car now, 35 years of driving cars and this one has been the worst by a million miles for errors and faults.

Both cupholders have led ring around it at the top with both lit up.

Just posted on another thread, but some cars do seem to get afflicted one fault after another.

That said, 37yrs of driving and I'm not sure I've ever had a car that didn't have foibles!

Cup holders are genuinely easy to look at. Warranty claim was refused on mine which irritated as it's a poor design, but it was easier to diagnose and fix myself than argue (and the dealer has been top notch, so not their issue).

They should if you have the ambient lighting option (not standard on J1.1).

PCM controlled along with colour change.

yes have the ambient lighting, my car is 3 months old J2

so far it’s had the onboard charger changed - failed week 1
pcm changed due to a list of errors - which doing this didn’t fix

now waiting for a new Wi-Fi module as this stopped working after the pcm swap, and now there a loose screw rolling around somewhere.

and last night one of the cup holder stopped working.

so in 3 months it’s been in 3 times and now waiting to go back for a 4th. With all original errors still present and now more errors being added to the list.

Nightmare!

Sadly some of your woes are carryovers from J1.1 (same components).

Swapping the PCM sounds extreme but no doubt they had their reasons to do it but once big items like this are altered then other problems can surface. PCM is the nerve centre and suspect mundane things like lighting control will pass through it. Can't imagine its a faulty led array and hopefully a coding issue.

Share your pain and I would be spitting feathers. Us old timers have been through the mill since 2020 with the Taycan on all sorts of issues which then largely abated by MY23. J1.2 should be a mature offering at this point but apparently not.
