I was more asking because if it's staying on, in whatever mode, when the vehicle is off - it could be draining the vehicle's battery right? Which means if there was a 12v issue (as has happened in the past) Porsche could blame you.
The camera has a built in voltage reader, and shuts itself off when the 12V battery falls at or below the level you configured. I haven't had a battery drain on me for the last 5 cameras I've used. I have heard my camera telling me that it's shutting itself down while I am working on my car and the dome lights are on, which eventually brought the voltage down, so I know it works.

I have a Fitcamx installed in my 22 CT. It took one hour to install and it looks and works great. Since it is using the rain sensor power it is not powered on when the car is off and there is no 12v battery drain. This is the 4th Porsche I have had dash cams installed in and my Porsche service center has never made it an issue when they have been in for warranty work.

Is that the 4k version? My buttons are on the bottom of the camera.

But man, the cover where the camera installs was a b*tch to remove! I don't know how you did it so quickly. I also found it very difficult to tuck the wires under the smaller, middle trim piece in order to snap it back into place.

The fitcamx has a parking mode which keeps the camera on during parking. I don't use that mode and see no drain with the car being parked up for days at a time without being used.

I haven't used the parking mode so can't comment on how sophisticated or smart it is in terms of triggering only when it sees movement.
I asked Fitcamx support, and they said turning on the parking mode only wakes up the camera in the event of a "big collision". Otherwise, the camera is always off. See screenshot.

It has 3840x2160 resolution which most consider 4k And is listed as 4k by manufacturer. The trim removal tools I had were much better than the inadequate one that came with the camera but the 3rd trim piece was the most difficult. I got lucky and pulled all the wires up the left side and was able to snap the middle trim piece back on the first try.

If it's connected to the rain sensor I fail to see how it could wake up as there will be zero power.

I have the BlackVue in my Raptor with two blackvue battery packs; it uses a switched Iive to charge when the engine is running and then runs of batteries when the engine is off.

see little benefit for that in Taycan because at end of day it’s being charged by the battery that would be more efficient just powering the camera off a permanent live…

When it detects no movement, it goes into a low power state - I have it connected to my house and car wifi - with house being the priority so it can sync with cloud.

I agree with you, but that's what he told me. Go figure!

There is a plug under the steering wheel to the right hand side (same place a normal bonnet lever would be placed) that dashcams can be plugged into, I had an installer fit mine, it’s perfect and isn’t then hardwired into the car. You can’t see the cable either. Not sure what type of plug you need to fit it though as not seen one like this before.

Ive got a black view front and rear cam installed, both on the same plug socket.
Hi Mark

I had a look for this plug this morning, but couldn't find anything except for a diagnostic outlet. Where was the plug on yours please?

This is for a Blackvue right? Any chance there's a part/model number for that adapter? I'm not familiar with what that plug is.

Also, what does the switch on it do exactly?

Thanks!

Switches it on or off. Yeah it’s for the Blackvue.

The guy who fitted it is Simon Holbon www.Holbon.com
