The RWD cars use first gear more often than AWD cars.

- Range: permanent 2nd gear (which is why range makes a bigger difference for RWD cars)
- Normal: 1st until ~80km/h / 50mph
- Sport (Plus): 1st until ~125km/h / 70mph

It'll also shift to second earlier at certain moments if there's no strong performance demand.

My new RWD started being noisy towards the end of the 1st gear range too, even though its only 4 months old with ~15000km / ~9000 miles driven.
Thanks Ambrooze, I thinks ours cars have the same problem…
we also got an answer from LXA and that doesn’t predict much good ?

My gearbox was replaced last year. Hum/grind in first gear.

Thanks LXA, that’s an impressive picture… seems like I’m not the only one, as Ambrose wrote and your message shows. Still haven’t heard from Porsche Netherlands, so I’ll sent both messages to my dealer.
Porsche should be aware of the problem. In the meantime it sucks because the noise starts at the speedlimit in towns for the Netherlands and it‘s there all time. Driving in range mode is no solution, because in the Netherlands there are a lot of speed bumps and the car lowers itself.

@ Ambroos (and LXA) Does or did the sound also occur at 100 km/h?

Do you have Sport Chrono? Maybe you can configure individual mode with range engine and normal hight. Haven’t tried that.

Different problem but same reaction from the dealer. I have an issue with mal functioning Porsche Entry (aka comfort acces in other brands). I found out on this forum what the problem was and forwarded the official Porsche note on this to my Belgian dealer. They said it was incorrect because it was a US note and not for EuropeanTaycans. Although it exactly describes my problem. They are quite reluctant to accept info from the internet.

On the other hand, I don’t always appreciate myself if patients come to me and share their vision based on google.

Allez zeg het zijn de Nederlanders en Belgen hier allemaal met hetzelfde probleem ?

@Bennie at 100km/h it's there I think but not as noticeable. At 120km/h it's VERY easy to hear as long as the car is in first gear.

My car is at the dealership at the moment (Porsche Bellevue here) for the large update and I told them about this. We'll see if they acknowledge it after they test drive it.

I don’t have sport chrono, but maybe I can configurate the heigh of the car. I’ll look into it today.

I also recognize a certain scepsis at the dealer, because it are mostly the problems that are discussed on the forum. This forum is an exeption because members also are often very enthusiastic about their Taycan and share this. But what’s wrong is wrong and has to be solved. Especially with this brand and the amount this cars cost.

Het lijkt er inderdaad op Ambroos dat we oververtegenwoordigd zijn ?

So with your car also at 100 km/h. Obvious the same complaint and the same cause: the gearbox‘s first gear. We’ll keep each other informed about the official reaction. I have sent the mails to my dealer, also the one from LXA. Maybe your dealer should read this too?
