Not sure this is the case.Got to say I’m a little annoyed with Porsche OPC now. Turns out the car advertised with Mobile Charger Connect now doesn’t have it as Porsche recalled them all due to being a fire risk. You would think that PEN protection would be essential. Maybe this was why they recalled them?
Some while back (MY 20 / MY21 / MY 22) there was a safety recall issued for various items and included the PMCC and PMC+. When I had the recall work done on my car they advised that they did not require my EVSE (PMCC) - so not sure if they are referring to that.
Since then (I now have MY23) I've not had any notification but aware that some folk in US had overheating issues (not limited to PMCC or Porsche) where recall work may have been performed.
If this is a 2nd hand car then perhaps the original VIN / Customer Order had the PMCC listed but they overlooked this in the sales description and not updated it to reflect that the car comes with the standard PMC+ - I'm just guessing but I would expect to be in the loop on any safety items from Porsche (they do a good job on that at least).
My PMCC was supplied with a new MY21 (2020) 4S which I kept when I got my MY23 GTS ST and handed back the standard PMC+ when the car was delivered last March.
Perhaps they will retire the PMCC (always possible) as I don't see it listed now on new builds. There is also a new dock for the PMC+ (similar to PMCC dock but without the cutout for the display) whereas none were available previously.
If your stick with the PMC+ it will be perfectly fine for home charging - same capability (7.4kW).
