All I have of any substance is a VIN. No factory pics, No timeline just an ever moving
delivery date communicated by dealer. Is this expected?

Same for my 4S. In my case it's the infamous 12v battery missing. There is a very informative thread on that subject with many participants from UK

If you have a VIN there should at least be factory pics on the myporsche site. I have 3 to keep me occupied in this endless wait!

I’m in the exact same boat.
I orderd a 4S sport Turismo and got built end of July. Then I got a notification yesterday that I reached stage 5 on my Porsche app but not sure if it means anything.
I was told the car will be in the showroom ready to collect in September but tbh it looks doubtful given the news on the 12v battery problems .

I’m still waiting for a VIN so can’t tell you how easy (or otherwise) it is to get them.

Unless I'm not seeing the obvious, the only way I can add a vehicle to MyPorsche app is with VIN (which I have) and then Proof of ownership and proof of identity (which I can't add because I don't have car). I must be missing something simple.

Ahh not sure then one of the experts like @W1NGE might be able to shed more light. For me I just logged into the app or myporsche website with the email I gave to the dealer when ordering the vehicle and the car magically appeared in there allowing me to track some of the progress. I think maybe try to login with your email (or register a new profile if not done yet). Eventually when you get the car you’ll need to login to the car with your Porsche details so best to get that sorted before it arrives.

As an individual you can't do the initial setup - speak to your Dealer to get this sorted
