Since we all know the issues with the North American PMCC, I pretty much ignored mine and bought a different EVSE instead (Emporia Energy, pretty happy with it). Instead, I just put the PMCC in the frunk and drive around with it, "just in case".

It now occurred to me that this is taking up a lot of frunk space, and I am not sure I will ever use it on the go. Do you drive around with it, or keep it at home?

I came to the same conclusion and so I moved it to the trunk.

Yes, I do carry it with me, including both adapters, an extension cord (120V) and some electrical tape. Seems to fit just fine in the compartment under the trunk floor, and there’s enough room left for a Tesla adapter. All based on @daveo4EV’s threads and recommendations.

I have to check again, but I think that's not true for me, because I have the Burmester. Apparently the amp is under the compartment, and the Burmester amp is larger.

I read that with the "standard" stereo (for trims where even BOSE is an option), the compartment is even larger.

First, I didn't bother wasting money on PMCC upgrade, got the standard PMC+ which I never bothered taking out of the case, just put it in storage at home. (I did pick up a used PMCC before I even had my Taycan, but that was research/reverse engineering purposes, I never plan on using it to actually charge my car).

At home I just converted one of my dual 19.2KW Tesla chargers to J1772 (swapped out the cable on it) - it nicely balances 80A between my Taycan and my wife's Model S. I also got an 80A TeslaTap Mini to keep in the Taycan (useful when traveling, to hookup to Tesla destination chargers) and for mobile charger I just put a 40A Tesla Mobile Connector in the sub-trunk with a bunch of adapters which I already had (you can get one for $200 from Tesla today) in case I ever need an EVSE on the road. Tesla Mobile Connector with all if its plug adapters and the Tesla Tap Mini takes up way less room than the PMC+ alone, about 1/4 of the under trunk storage.

I sometimes bring it with me when travelling somewhere far away just to be safe, but otherwise it’s kept on the wall.

Honestly, there are so many public chargers nowadays that I have barely even used it.

Mine was delivered in the secret drugs compartment (without a 'suitcase'), where it has remained, bar one use in over 1 year. Best place for it i guess.

It's somewhere in my garage. I never opened it and never want it in my car lol. It takes up space and I'll probably never will use it. I should sell it though.

While I carry my PMC+ (which came with my Taycan) in the frunk, the places where I drive away from home (summer house and visiting the kids) have great destination chargers so I have never used mine.

I guess its time for it to go.

Of course, Murphy's Law says the next time I take a trip I'll need it. :)

I have a whole bunch of stuff permanently in the hidden storage compartment in the rear incl an EVSE- way more space in there than most realize - and my frunk is reserved for a soft shelled cooler bag that fits the space perfectly (used for all sorts of stuff).

Rear Storage has:

1) Mustart portable EVSE with 25 ft cable.
2) TeslaTap Mini 60A (incl electrical grease for really tough connections - i've been there!)
3) Wheel Jack for spare tire and tire irons
4) Car lift jack pads (4)
5) Spare license plate

I can post a pic some pt later whenever back at car (for disbelievers :)!)

Like BigBob I keep it in the drugs compartment. I’ve used it several times when I’ve visited my dear old ma so I keep it in the car because I’m bound to forget it if I don’t

I take the type 2 cable everywhere and use it regularly (it helps my local shopping centre has *very limited space * free charging ). I actually would like a UK 3 PIN/domestic plug cable/EVSE to use but the Porsche one is ridiculously large. Anyone in the UK recommend a reliable, light and decently priced one?

Same here. In order when away or road tripping it’s:
- DC charging first,
- 7/22 kW AC charging if the car is going to sit for a few hours / overnight.
- Granny at around 2kW on a domestic socket. Just rubbish given the bulk of that Porsche thing.

I know from having an EV previously the amount of times in 5 years I’ve used the “granny” charger I can count on fingers on one hand. It’s just too slow with a big battery quite frankly and there are usually better options with a teeny bit of planning.

Yeah agreed. But I’d use it say if I was at my relatives house for a day and wanted to trickle a bit in. Also my local train station has free trickle charging with a 3PIN so if I’m in London for the day free charging is pretty nice.
