This is really vexing me. When I run the AC on AUTO, the fan blows at high speed. When I turn up the heat, it seems nothing happens. Only when I set it to MAX will I hear the heater fan blowing.

If I set the heat to, say 88F, it WILL heat up, but very slowly. No fan.

On top of this it seems that when set to obtain temps in the mid to high 70's that the AC is super cold. Something seems not right!

I heard elsewhere the heater is a "known issue," and felt it was time to be taken to the dealership. I was told a part was needed that would arrive in a couple days. When I picked up the car I was in a hurry and didn't speak to anyone about it. When I looked at the paperwork it said "could not replicate problem."

The car still performs the same.

Can you help me understand if the heater performs differently than the AC?

A sign of the heater failing/failed is an error message in the PCM:

The precool/heat error message appears when you go into PCM...AC....tab precool/heat. The line for precool/heat is OFF and to the right of that is "precool/heat: system error".
Also, when you connect the charging plug and use the charging display in the console, the precool/heat button is dark and depressing it gives PCM info: "function not available".

There are many long threads in the forum about Taycan heaters failing.

I'm really just looking for someone to confirm my experience regarding the heater's fan, which again I don't notice engaging unless i set the temperature to MAX. Seems it should perform under same conditions as the AC, that is, noticeably running when you set the temp to AUTO significantly above ambient temperature.

Mine does not require max to get heat going. It works like any other car.
perfect, thank you. Maybe the dealership won’t look at me like I’m crazy when I have other owners on my side!

Guys, can anyone chime in here and let me know if you have had your Taycan - problem free? No heating problems? I have now had my Taycan for 3 months and everything is fine but these comments on this thread really scare me... I am in Toronto, Canada

Mine is fine, I keep it on Eco but it warms up far quicker than a ICE car since there is no wait for engine warming. The fan is always audible - in fact if I have a complaint about the car it is the ventilation fans being a bit noisy.

I started this thread so will provide this update:

I scheduled service for the car as I suspected the heat wasn't working properly. After diagnosis they confirmed it was fine. I complained that the heat wouldn't blow like the AC. The rep showed me that in order to get the heat blowing you should NOT use the AUTO feature. Dial back from that level and it will probably kick in with more force (of course this all depends on the diff between ambient temperature and your target temp). I have to agree with him that it was working better this way, although it was counterintuitive. Apparently the AUTO feature works slowly to get to and maintain the target temp. YMMV.
