just FYI for the Taycan community - I‘m having 100% success un-plugging from EA fast chargers at the end of the session by making sure the vehicle is 100% unlocked.

I’ve had no issues unplugging from EA chargers ever since I’ve started making sure the vehicle is unlocked - I still think porsche can fix this so that people not as thorough as I am won’t be confused.

Interesting. How did you figure this out?

Interesting! When did you figure out this was the cause?

as with all great and society changing insights - it was an accident!

so far it’s proven mostly true. In my case there is also a twist - I have the “lock” settings in the vehicle set to unlock the driver’s door _ONLY_ - this mean when you’re at an EA station by yourself, you are getting in/out of the car - but the passenger side door is _NOT_ unlocked in this circumstance - the few times I fast charged under these circumstances I had great difficultly with the charging plug “unlocking” - then one day I had problems unlocking my “home” charger on the driver’s side - the car was locked - I un locked the car and boom my home charger on the drivers side came out no problem - I thought - hmmmmmm

next time I fast charged I made sure the passenger side door was unlocked when I went to remove the plug - for the 1st time ever it came right out at the end of the charging session - and thus a legend was born!!!

my dealer assures me (in conversations with Porsche NA) that I’m only partially correct - but I’m on to the right “theory” - he claims the position of the key-fob also matters - and so far he’s not wrong - I have also had the key fob with me on the passenger side of the vehicle when I’ve been successful…

more testing is required - but I’m gradually debugging Porsche’s software for the benefit of mankind.

Have gotten into the habit of placing my key in the front cup holder as Porsche recommends and have not had had any issues. Specifically the front cup holder seemed important, probably related to clearly reading the RFID chip.

Attached my key to one of the GT4/3 door handle key fobs given to us by Porsche to make it easy to remember to take the key when leaving.
