A bit of a story...I got a message saying my right charging port was impaired.

I tried everything to get it open until I found a guide to how to release the port by using a plastic tool in the front trunk.

After releasing the right port, neither would respond so it went into the local OPC.

I presumed Porsche would reset the error and al good but.....

They say they can reset the port but the car has an active fault stored "Charging-socket lid B, locking detection, electrical fault"

They say it needs a new control unit which is £1,417

Based on 20,000 miles at 220miles per open/close of the charge port means the electronic port has cost me £500 extra on the car and only lasted 100 open/closes!

Anyone had similar issues or any advice?

Thanks

I would repair and then extend your warranty. It is a beautiful car to drive but it has many expensive flaws.

Is the car not in warranty? If not its a problem going forward as this car MUST HAVE a warranty to cover the many potential electrical issues you may experience.

If the problem is resolved (for now) then perhaps live with it, add a warranty and then in a few months time try your luck.

A bit funny but the same thing happened to me a few days ago. I get into the car and see the message that the left electric charging port is damaged. The car was not connected to the charger at the time. When I tried to open the port it only opened halfway and jammed...tried several times and nothing. I went to Porsche hoping they would just reset it, but it turned out I had to leave the car. I brought the car today... supposedly to be done in one day.

Just had both left and right modules replaced on my facelift 4S ST. One had failed and would stick half open until I did the rese trick but would soon fail again. THE OPC replaced the faulty side and then spotted the other side, whilst working was out of spec so they replaced that side as well.
When they stick half way, repeatedly press the release button and swipe the sensor after every 4 or five presses and it will fully open. Then swipe to close but immediately obstruct it with your hand and it will very slowly go up and down again the work for a while.

The trouble with buying a Porsche Warranty is they will spot the error codes when they do the 111 point check.

A worry that this is a carryover issue from J1.1
