Greetings all,

it’s time for another delve into the reasons why EA stinks! But not for the reason you may think….

Anywho, for the last ~17 days, EA chargers refuse to recognize my payment method via Plug&Charge, and every time I require a charge I’ve had to call customer support, explain the issue, and wait for a remote start. I’ve reached out to PCNA (to no avail), and EA has two case numbers to track my issue. I primarily rely on EA so this has been a nightmare, as a normal 20 minute charge stop has ballooned to nearly an hour - every time. Has anyone had any similar issues or know of a potential fix?

Is it just a Plug and Charge issue? Does it work if you put a credit card in the charger?

I haven’t attempted to use my credit card since I should be receiving free charging.

I have indeed done both of those things. No idea what it could be…
When you are unable to use plug and charge, have you tried starting your session with MyPorsche app? I started using app to start EA charging when plug and charge failed. Takes a bit of getting used to but it worked. Takes less time than calling EA.
If you can charge with MyPorsche app then at least you know the problem is not with your Porsche charging service not working at all - it is with plug and charge. If app and P&C do not work, then bigger problem than P&C.
Also have you tried P&C at different EA dispensers and sites? Maybe an issue at one EA site only?

Well, if an hour of your time isn’t worth $40…

Seriously, if it’s really an inconvenience, why not pay with your cc, and then take your car into the dealer and tell them to get it working, as it is a feature of the car that you were promised and therefore a warranty issue. Save your receipts and request reimbursement as well.

PCNA is not the right contact. Your dealer is.

This is a good alternative, just make sure you turn off P&C (uncheck the box) in the PCM to make this process easier. Otherwise, P&C will throw errors and it will be difficult to start your charging session from the app.

Good ideas all around. I temporarily turned off P&C and will try to charge this evening. If it doesn’t work I’ll schedule service with the dealer.

I have this exact same problem, and for about this same time period. Everything worked fine before that (to the extent the EA station was working at all). EA says it is Porsche's fault, but I am not so sure.

How have you tried to personally troubleshoot the problem?

No, apart from calls to EA, which take about 20 minutes each and end with a free charging session initiated by the agent.
Based on this forum, I will try deactivating plug and charge, using the app once, and then retrying plug and charge.

I've taken this path - on my inaugural trip back home - paid out of pocket, opened a case with both EA and Porsche to have it solved. There was mutual finger-pointing/blame-shifting, and the conclusion of the story is that now I have a $150 credit on my EA account. ?‍♂

(For a proper refund, EA suggested "deleting the account", which will transfer the balance to the backing CC. For the curious: it didn't work, so don't waste your time. I hope this balance will still be worth a few kWh in 3 years.)

Have you tried starting the charge inside the My Porsche app?

Some chargers don't support Plug-and-Charge...
