Electrify America to Add NACS Connector by 2025, While Continuing CCS Support

Right - I know about the 150KW cap - I just wondered how it compared to the "non-Tesla" 400/500V or 800v chargers you've used.

I typically get 200 kW+ on Fastned (1000v) or Ionity here.

There aren't that many 400/500v ultra-fast chargers here outside of Tesla.

The only other network that I'm aware of (that I used today in my Tesla) is Osprey - they are typically 150 kW / 400V chargers from Kempower.

I've not hooked up the Taycan to one yet.... but I suspect I would see similar rates to what I got at Tesla to be frank.

^ That’s more than twice my most recent EA visit that maxed out at 61.

Meanwhile, in more positive developments, the new Enfield CT Magic Dock with 12 chargers is a huge gain for skiers and tourists traveling from NYC and CT to Vermont. Also shows that Tesla is not limiting the rollout to obscure locations on a test basis, as was my prior theory. Once word gets out, this location will be busy for the current leaf peeping season and then from early December into early April for ski season. (Also huge plus for the Big Y supermarket at this location!)

I just hope Tesla will add more Magic Docks further south and north along I-91 for my personal benefit!
(Now if only the gas rewards points that I accumulate at my local Big Y can somehow be used to redeem kWh discounts at the Tesla Magic Docks adjacent to the Enfield Big Y?)

Interesting details (or at least interesting to the Venn Diagram overlap of CCS1 owners and economists) learned from Tesla forum lurking about what might be the first Magic Dock station to be Magic Dock right from the get-go, i.e., not retrofitted:

• Late May = Regulatory application first noticed by the public, although unclear when the application was initially filed.
• Mid June = Construction in progress.
• Mid August = Tesla construction completed, awaiting utility work.
• Early September = Ready for the final touches.
• Sept 26 = Open for Tesla vehicles.
• Oct 4 = Open for CCS1.

By contrast, the EVgo press release I read this week was even worse than the EA self-delusional cheerleading.

On a long road trip last month with maybe 10 stops at EA sites, the fastest charge rates on the trip occurred at the 150kw dispensers. Maybe at EA "ultra" 150 > "hyper" 350?

I had half a thought to start a thread on my trip to RR7. Tl;dr:
- max speed I saw was 189kW;
- indeed CA EA stations (especially those in more populated areas) are knee-capped (60ish kW); on the plus side, there are more of them to choose from;
- WA and OR were solid, though in true fashion, the last charge stop on the way back (in WA) was an hour-long shitshow.
