Extended test drive?

Anyone has any luck getting an extended test drive, such as for the weekend?

We would like to experience the car in various settings, school run, shopping car park etc, as we plan to use the car as an everyday car. Say over the weekend. It would give us a good chance to use it with our 8yo daughter in the back.

I’m not an existing customer, having not had a Porsche before. Is this not very likely?

Not here. No idea how it's in other places. My local dealership wouldn't even find me a car to test drive for 30 seconds.

I had to drive 400km+ cross country to have an hour long test drive (around 28km total) and I was pretty glad I got that chance.

I did from the Sheffield branch yes, so it's a thing you can do. I had it overnight so about 36 hours in total.

Be aware if you charge it, the parking bays are sometimes in places where you need to either sign-in (hotels), or visit the shop (like Iceland in Huddersfield). If you've owned an EV before or currently you may already know this so ignore me.

I don't think that will happen. Especially if you are not already a customer.

I had the car for 6hours and it was more than enough to get a feeling of the car & day to day activities.

When I test drove it I also drove a 911. They were keen that I didn't put too many miles on the 911 (apparently very mileage sensitive when they sell it on) but booked the Taycan out for me for the rest of the day. I would have thought that booking it out for a few hours should be able to answer your questions. Where are you in the country? I have found them to be helpful in Tewkesbury, but I don't know if that helps you.

I tried to rent a Taycan for the weekend using the official Porsche rental program, but there was no inventory in my area. But then I talked to my dealer and they let me borrow one for two days. No cost, just lots of paperwork.

I was a new customer, and had never owned a Porsche. The salesperson apparently concluded that handing me the keys was the right move. I did end up buying, so he was right.

Oh and I also looked for cars on Turo at the time, but the reflective silver wrapped 4S I found was 400 miles away, overpriced, and too garish to be seen in, even for just a weekend. But looking just now I see a white Taycan base and a green CT4 in the SF Bay Area, both at reasonable rates.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Do you have Turo in the UK? We were thinking of and then rented a Range Rover Sport for 4 days during a vacation and came out of it knowing I couldn’t stand driving it daily for any longer…

My dealership have been great on that front. I called up a few times between £5k down and now and asked to borrow a taycan to drive it, check it got on the drive easy enough, check child seats etc, and after a long wait check its still what i wanted and each time i could have had it several hours.

Pretty similar to my experience with Bristol. Expressed a keen interest and got one on loan for a couple of hours. Built a spec up and put down a refundable deposit, then arranged for the loan car from the dealership for a couple of days to try it out in different scenarios.

In Amsterdam they gave me a Taycan for the entire weekend to see if I like it or not before I ordered it, so it must depend on SA and dealership

Porsche Bournemouth were helpful in this regard - allowed me an overnight test drive. Its a wide car for narrow pot-holed Devon lanes. Am still concerned over the heater failures - some even repeat failures apparently.

I'll try find out about a paid loan for. It's Nottingham for me.

Good point. Maybe I need to get a deposit down so that they know I'm not time-wasting.
