About 10k miles on the car and I'm setting out to do my first road-trip to go see some baseball... I have the CT4s with the larger battery pack.

I'm trying to make it from Folly Beach, SC to Atlanta, GA. ABRP doesn't think I can make the charger at:

5007 Steiner Way,
Grovetown, Georgia, 30813, US

and is suggesting that I go out of my way to charge on the way there:

https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=0e07b7f1-c793-4ec0-8e38-9904138091a0

Does anyone have some real world experience with this? That charger is only 175miles away, so I would have thought I'd make it easily...

ABRP is way conservative to start with and the reference consumption for your car is 417Wh/mi which is too high as well. Reducing the reference consumption to 350Wh/mi helps. Your car should be able to go 250 miles @80mph, so no problem to get to Grove Town through Walterbroro without charging along the way.

I dont use ABRP too much. It goes by the EPA rating for the Taycans, so it will have you stopping far more often and choose routes that think the car can only get about 200 miles. Use PlugShare to compare routes, as you can tell it what range your car can really get and most times, you’ll find PlugShare to be the better route planner. At least for me it has been much better.

I just ran that route in PlugSHare and that charger is only 177 miles away from you. You will be fine.

I agree with other posts. ABRP very conservative even when updating the wh/mi to actual efficiency. I wouldn’t hesitate to run 200 mile legs at 75+mph with a starting SoC of 85%. If you become concerned about range you can always slow down a few mph during the route. The Porsche nav was very accurate on a recent roadtrip and encouraged multiple 200 mile legs when ABRP would recommend extra stops.

Good luck and have fun on your roadtrip!

250-275Wh/mi is a more realistic reference consumption in ABRP (with other defaults unchanged). I trust it to within 1-2% of reality on all my trip plans to date.

I agree ,but I wouldn't depend on getting too much more than 200 miles from that level SOC and that speed. cold weather, rain and elevation changes can negatively impact the range

Good point.

I had pretty ideal conditions and relatively flat roads across TN/KY, arriving with around 12-14% SoC on those 200 mile legs (starting with 85-90% SoC). OP is starting with 100% so should be in great shape for that distance.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'll charge to 100% and go direct to that charger.

When you input the Grovetown charger the Nav app will display the anticipated SoC upon arrival. That will give you confidence about completing the leg sucessfully. Keep an eye on the arrival SoC and slow down if necessary to to keep a positive value. S/B no problem.
Good luck.
