First time EV owner, what charger for the house?

I think you are correct (but you can get different color glass plates). My V2 is at another location but memory says it's black. The V3 in the garage here does have a white face plate. The major difference is that the V3 connects to the internet and is configurable for various amperage settings. My V2 is on a 60 amp breaker. I just plug in with the TeslaTap adapter and it charges at 48 amps. Piece of cake.

On a 60 amp circuit you can charge at 11kW (usually just under 10kW into the car). 70% of the 80+ kWh battery takes around 6 hours. You can add 30 to 35 miles of range per hour. Obviously a little slower on a 50 amp circuit, but still very easy overnight charging. It won't be any different than charging the Tesla.

The charging with the Tesla universal wall connector has been going well utilizing the timer/profiles of the car.

I had a question about some ups and downs of energy I see in the charging session. Is this normal?

Not an answer to your question but as i am about to order a 4S myself I am curious how long did it take to charge with the Tesla Charger, what adapter did you use and what % of charge did you start and end at? Also do you have a gen 1/2 or 3 Tesla Wall Charger? I have a Gen 2 for my 2 Tesla (currently...)

No worries! I have the universal wall connect gen3 with the integrated adapter so you can charge either Tesla or non Tesla cars.
I was at 40%ish and charged to 80% overnight. Looks like that was 4hrs, so I’d say it’s 10% per hour but I’ve got it on a 60A fuse so it’s delivering the max output like 11+kw.

Very happy with it so far and the profiles and timers are working well for me. Just wondering about these dips shown in my graph so hoping someone can confirm if that’s normal?

awesome. sorry for the hijack and i am curious about your dips as well 40% to 80% in 4 hours at 11+KW/H.

dips are normal - vehicle "takes a break" periodically during the charging session - I'd see the same dips using a PMCC to charge my 2020 Taycan Turbo.

it's porsch'e onboard vehicle software doing something during the charging session - what/why has never be illuminated by anyone from Porsche - but it's normal.

you only need the high powered one if you have the 19.2 kW on board charging option on your Taycan - otherwise just get a 60 amp or better one - the high powered one won't hurt they just cost more and if your vehicle doesn't have the on board 19.2 kW option it doesn't matter.

Got it, thank you. I don’t believe I have the 19.2kw option on my car. So prob best to do the normal one.

Assuming we’re talking about MINI right? Looks like that’s just the redesigned newer version of the adapter?
