Front cupholder removal

Dear friends,

the matter of the issue is: a slightly inelegant movement with the keys in my hand left the front cupholder area (right where the taycan logo is) slightly scratched.

while it’s not the end of the world, I’m trying to figure out whether it is an easy replacement or something that requires disassembling half of the car. If easy, makes sense to calm the OCD. If hard, I’ll learn to love it.

The new part is 150 eur, which I can live with, but the swapping sequence remains a mystery. They look like they can be simply pulled out, but the whole thing is pretty tight.
Any experience or access to Porsche manuals?

One of the best vids I’ve seen on this and used it myself in my ashtray conversion - had one bit of input on the process but can’t go wrong with this vid - above all, take it slow!

thank you, this is tremendously helpful and does not seem like a major interior overhaul, DIY level.

what I cannot understand is whether you can remove the front without removing the back first.

No, you have it in the sequence presented in the vid but honestly not at all hard to do - do follow his advice to the letter and apply slow pressure where needed - can feel a bit ‘brutal’ but the pieces are very durable and can take it. I did find using an interior removal tool helped loosen a couple of tight clips to release.

And above all remember the advice to not end up yanking the pieces up after clip release as those thin LED light strips are exposed and could break - again easy to avoid if you follow the vid’s instructions.

got it. Ordered the part today, and will report back on the progress. Seems worth changing instead of looking at it all the time.

The first time I saw it I think ciaranob linked to it in another thread here. My wife says I have a horrible memory but if it’s links, vids, instructions to car stuff it’s like burned into my hippocampus.
