Frunk Fins on the Left Side

Has anyone else noticed this? I opened the frunk yesterday, and happened to notice that the plastic piece by the hinge of the front was different on each side.

On the left, there were fins.

On the right, it was smooth.

Why are there little fins on the left side, what are they for?

Searched around, couldn't find a reason. Anyone here have a theory or know why?

Utilize airflow from that aperature to move draining water from the wipers off the base of windshield.

Good observation - same on the CT and have no idea Look like they might be airflow/cooling related - but odd indeed!
